I ate a lot of Jello yesterday. It was leftover from the BBQ, and delicious, but this morning I woke up HUNGRY. It's interesting to me, but also annoying. Being dependent on others to bring me food I can't carry is rough. My mother-in-law watches those shows with the people trying to lose weight and I never got it before, but maybe now I do a bit...what I wouldn't give to have a dozen donuts RIGHT NOW, just so I had them, because I'm hungry. If this injury took longer to heal, I could see it leading to my being really food-oriented. If my inability to get around was mental rather than physical, with no prospect for recovery, I could see how that obesity could progress.
But that's not what this is about. Having the knowledge that yes, it will get better, and yes, it's probably good for me to be getting used to the feeling of hunger (and waiting it out through necessity) is good. When I can carry a plate again, I may have worked through this. I hope I have, at least.
But for now I'm going to get dressed, hobble up the stairs, and see if there's something that will get me through the morning. I may make Jello.

Standing on the scale hurt so I won't do it again soon. We had a BBQ Saturday and I finally got enough to eat...and so many leftovers! That said, the evening craving does appear to be gone. Silver linings! Gratuitous foot pic coming up ..

I've got my stirrup aircast for my ankle, the immobilizer sandal for my metatarsal, and a super attractive grey tube sock absorbing the associated foot sweat. 👠
It's the one week anniversary...my follow-up x-ray will be in another week. 🧘🏼♀️

I posted a foot pic today. It's not pretty, but the swelling has gone way down. It's also getting itchy, which I hope is good. Aside from that, I think the inability to carry anything anywhere has been a huge boon to my usual evening snack impulses. I was downright starving the first three days, right? My 17yo supplied me with hospital-quality white bread and peanut butter sandwiches twice. They did NOT hit any spot I've ever had in my life, and magically my evening craving seems to be a thing if the past.
Silver linings!
