Day 12

I asked my Dad and his girlfriend if they can go to church with me this Sunday the 17th of July. I got cold feet this past Sunday and chickened out on going alone. It’s bilingual! 10am service is in English and then 12pm will be in Spanish. My hope is we go to both so maybe we can grab breakfast once the first one is over or I can pack us some sandwiches or burritos to eat. I’m close to my dad so when I told him I was ready to go he cried. I love my dad so much. In early April he was going to send me away so I could get the help I needed, you see I didn’t want to live anymore and I’ve previously attempted and was institutionalized. He got on his knees prayed and cried, he held me and it felt like when I was a little girl and he’d hold me and everything would be better. My dads been praying ever since. Estoy bien apá, estaré bien no te preocupes más.

I think a non-weight/ health goal I’d like to complete is finding a church to attend. One with people who aren’t judgmental. Growing up my mom was Catholic so we’d go to church on Sunday’s and my dad was Christian, church was Wednesday evenings. I’d bible study with The Jehova Witness’s Tuesdays and Thursdays, then met Aisha and read the Quran with her family after school from 7th grade until Sophomore year. In 2016 I immersed myself into the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Religion has always fascinated me but I’ve always felt lost. I don’t feel like I pray I just sort of talk to god. Our family has people in each of the religions I’ve dabbled in so I was always allowed to choose. Do I have to call and ask permission from the church to sit in during a service? I feel so weird doing this as an adult now back then it was always with a family member who’d take me.
