Lots of exercise yesterday. Rode my bike for 81 minutes and 21.7 miles. Also, worked out with the weights almost 30 minutes. That was a good workout, and tired me. Felt good. However, my wife and I are still cleaning out all of the branches, leaves, etc... from the heavy rains from last week. We worked on cleaning out all of the pluged mess in and around one of the very large culverts that goes beneath our driveway. Then, I decided to cut the 3-acre pasture with our zero-turn mower. Actually, riding a large lawnmower is probably not exercise, but the pasture is somewhat rough, and bounces the body around from the lumps and bumps. My wife says there is still inactive exercise since the body muscles respond to the action like riding a bull. Thus, by the time I hit the hot shower in the late afternoon, my body was screaming for mercy. Today, my regular group is playing golf.

Everyone have a wonderful day. For the few individuals who are in the Nashville area for CMA, enjoy the festivities. God is good !!

Working in the woods can have some good effects on the body, and then there are the less than good ones. I cut wood over 2 days since I had 2 large trees that had come down in the past few months. It was a really good work out for my body. However, Sunday and then Monday, I found 5 deer tick attached. In addition, I had sprayed my clothes with Deet, but those ticks had no fear of it. Four came out rather easily, but one was a tough little booger. My wife, who is an RN, could not get him to release, and advised me to see our PCP. Since I already had an appointment Monday PM, it was the plan. When we greeted each other (we are friends) and he checked me out as a follow-up, he then asked me if there was anything else we needed to discuss. He also had a 1st or 2nd year medical student shadowing him for the summer, so I said, "Yeah, I want you to do some 'real doctor stuff' for me". He proceded to remove 3 ticks though there was some difficulty for the one my wife tried to extract. He finally had to give me a lidocane shot and scrape it out with a scapel. Then he said, "OK, quit rolling around in the leaves in the woods. What other 'real doctor stuff' do you want me to do" ? I'm not sure what this young medical student thought about our conversations, since it is somewhat less than a professional conversation, but was certainly impressed with the way my PCP took that tick out. He really did look like he was 16. OK, now I have to go find some duct tape, more Deet, and shroud myself in plastic wrap when cutting wood in my forest.

Back to the bike this morning and also doing some on-going stretching exercises. Everyone have a wonderful week. God is good !!
