I have decided I am going to remain eternally 59 (although I often feel younger).
2012 Update: After reading Wheat Belly in May this year -grains, especially wheat are entirly off the table now. Wheat was kept me falling off the wagon. All my cravings for wheaty foods and sugar have totally gone. Down to a size 14 now..which for me is excellent at 5' 8".

I actually went on my first low carb diet ever in January 2011.
Bread has always been my favourite food and I was not sure if I could give it up.I have always also eaten a fairly high fat diet most of my life and actually nver had a problem with weight until menopause and a more sedentary lifestyle.
I figured if I gave up smoking after 45 years I could possibly also give up bread. Chocolate is another story but I don't think I will have to give that up.
I had started off the week of "dieting" just watching calories but the more I read and researched the more I opted for low carb and cut out grains and processed foods which is primarily what I have done since Jan 8. 2011
I could not get as low as 20 g carbs in Atkins induction type.
I think I really follow a blend of paleo/low carb. I started with Atkins as a base. Omitting grains and keeping carbs low as possible as well as avoiding most processed foods.
I do not use a scale and could estimate my weight at around 192-195 at that time..feeling much too plump for my self.
Todays weight is also an estimate..I really have no idea but somewhere around 180 ish.
