It seems that counting calories and exercising alone is just not doing it for me.

You may need to cut some calories. Try a week of 1400-1500) calories and see what happens. You may be eating too many right now to lose. If you metabolism is running slow it effects weight loss. Plenty of lean protein will help rev up your metabolism. You have to play with the calories till you find what will help you lose.
