Good job! It's not fair to sacrifice time with family or special events in pursuit of a goal. Eating out can be done responsibly. If you're not sure about the best choices on the menu, ask the server, and if they don't know, send the question back to the chef. My husband and I went out last week, and it was the first time I'd eaten out since being diagnosed with Diabetes. Turned out our server (who also was an owner) was also diabetic, and was able to tell me which choices to make. He also told me that patrons can call ahead and request whole wheat pasta, gluten-free pasta, etc. So you keep going out -- ask, and you'll be surprised with the knowledge in the restaurant kitchens.
