Lipotropic Protein... The name sounds awfully scientific, and more than a little bit disgusting, doesn't it? I know I certainly thought so when I made the decision to purchase it. Why did I buy it, you ask? I've been working out a lot lately, and wanted a decent protein supplement. I didn't want to spend too much, and a 5lb tub was only 30 dollars. So I decided, even untasted, the Lipotropic Protein was perfect. I can eat basically anything, so I figured I could choke it down, even if it was totally awful.
So, It arrived in the mail just before memorial day, and I mixed a scoop with 8oz. of cold water in my blender-bottle. Well, the taste was pretty gritty and awfully chocolate-y, with none of the creaminess they promised on the tub. It wasn't completely awful, though, and I have a secret for dealing with bad textures in protein. 2% milk, the most common milk found in my fridge, adds just a little milk-fat, and 8oz. of milk made this protein vastly improved.
I did some research on Lipotropic protein, and found something interesting. In addition to whey protein and micellar casein, there is something called "Genus Protein." I dug a little deeper into it, and found that this protein comes from....drum-roll....Peas! I haven't yet discovered what kind of peas, but based entirely on the slight aftertaste, I'm thinking Chickpeas.
Anyway, this protein shake is filling, fairly satisfying, and helps me to make sure I can control my meals much better, since I take it between meals. I'm glad I decided to buy it.
