Ha! Another lesson to be learned. Earlier this week, I was excited to see mid 73's on the scale. Then I blew it on Thursday & Friday. What I got wrong:
Thursday I was out for dinner and stuck with low carb. After dinner we went for dessert - to a Melbourne dessert cafe that specialises in gluten-free lowcarb desserts! Wow - I felt I had free reign and enjoyed a serve of their yummy lowcarb burnt Basque cheesecake. Only 2g carbs! (but still 315 calories)
Friday: Didn't have time to prepare lunch. I snacked on a couple of lowcarb caulifower cheesy muffins from the freezer. By the afternoon I was hungry and ate 3-4 serves of the no sugar chocolate I had in my bag. Got home and had some low carb pork crackling before making dinner. Dinner was bolognese nachos - only 5 corn chips on mine, but probably more generous with cheese and sour cream than I needed to be. All low carb, but excess calories.

The outcome: These choices reversed any weightloss I had achieved earlier in the week.

The lesson: Low carb does not guarantee weight loss. Calorie deficit is the key to weight loss. Low carb is the key to reducing blood glucose/energy spikes and troughs . Low carb stabilises blood glucose levels and thereby curbs some cravings and hunger. But eating excess calories, regardless of the macros, will put weight on.
