Well, my Ketone Test Strip came back pink! So, I am in ketosis. What is going on here? Maybe it was just the Atkins shakes that was causing me to stall? I also cut out the flavored water as well... only water in my system for over 24 hours now. Hopefully tomorrow will come a change. :-)

i am gonna tell u something that may shock u lol...atkins no longer recommends the strips. they are not reliable. the best ways to tell if youre in ketosis are a metal taste, really bad breath, and an odor to your urine. i know it sounds weird lol but thats how it is depicted in the NANY book. Brianne, I know that the new book says that the ketone strips are not reliable but I have always used them and if you start testing them with what you eat you will be able to tell what things affect your blood sugar or if you are consuming to many carbs. also are the Atkins shakes your drinking the sugar free or are you drinking the ones with a gram or 2 of sugar, if you are drinking the ones with sugar, STOP drinking them and get the ones with 0 grams of sugar. I personally have never drank them, I don't see how they are beneficial, except for convience.

also as far as the original Atkins diet book goes the darker the purple color on the strips the more Ketone's your spilling/the more fat your burning. Don't give up and give up the red wine vinegar it has hidden sugars as well as balsamic vinegar and rice wine vinegar. as far as the new book goes, white wine vinegar, white vinegar and apple cider vinegar's are OK. I have found for me it takes my body 3 days to return to ketosis after the consumption of any sugar but you may be different, that is where the strips are useful to me. Hang in there it takes a while for you to figure out how your body reacts to food.

I like the strips for those reasons exactly. I learned quickly that too many sugar alcohols will knock me out of ketosis overnight even if the carbs are within the allowed range. But then, I guess I am a rebel though because I also weigh every day so I can see patterns quickly and see how different factors affect my body.

Thanks everyone! I didn't know about the red wine vinegar, i asked a few people on atkins.com and they all said it was fine. everyone seems to have a different idea for what works lol
