So, since buying the protein powder I'm finding it difficult to stay under my calorie limit of 1650 because each serving in milk is about 450 calories...I really dont like it in water, so I'm stuck. I want the extra protein so I can meet my daily requirement but I also want a larger net calorie loss as often as I can get it. Open to suggestions.

Could also just do one scoop, and half the liquid until you figure out were to shave a few calories here and there.

When I was using protein powder, I used Unjury, which is supposed to be one of the best. The chocolate has 100 calories and 3 carbs/2 sugar. I think you should do a littl emore exploring. The Unjury was very good.

2 scoops has 50g protein, that's a lot. I would cut it down to one scoop and see how it goes...

I use 1 scoop (180) to 1 1/2 cups almond milk (45) and it tastes like a shake (well..) ;)

Almond milk is excellent.

Paige- I believe the research says if you are cutting carbs pretty low, you should be increasing fat - rckc's idea to use the calculator at ketogains online is a great idea. They are a respected resource. 😊 I think once you calculate some goals custom fit to your lifestyle and size, you will find the macros much easier to achieve. 😊

I prefer 0 sugar, my bf is type 2 diabetic and any small amount of sugar spikes his Blood sugar. that's why I went with isopure, it tastes good with no sugar.

I get 35% fat and 40% protein. I'm not comfortable eating more than 40% fat in my diet, but if you would suggest it I will change protein to 35% and fat to 40%

I don't work with % as such...More specific macros. For example-my macros are around 90g protein/64g fat/25g carbs but because fat has more calories per gram than protein, it works out to 35% protein, 56% fat, with carbs being 10% of my total calories which are 1036 daily. AND I do not have to eat all the fat, this amount is a limit, same with carbs. My primary goals are to lose body fat and preserve lean muscle.

whoops, that should have been 55%. I don't want to be eating 101% lol...

When I did the ketogains calculator the only thing that I changed was the calories from 25g to 100g (I'm not technically on a "keto diet", it said: 30% protein, 20% carb, 50% fat. That is just too many calories from fat for me. If I ate that much fat I'd be way over my limit on daily calories...

High fat/ Low carb diet is perfect for a T2 diabetic and will get rid of all of the symptoms and eliminate the need for medication. A typical meal could be a cup and a half of steamed brocolli with 1 Tablespoon of butter on it and a 3 ounce piece of grilled chicken plus a tiny one ounce piece of cheese. THAT is what a healthy high- fat meal looks and sounds like. That meal is totally normal, has plenty of protein and works for just about anyone. It has 450 calories and 5.2% carbs with no weird supplements required. I can practically guarantee that if you eat like that, you will lose weight, your T2 symptoms will evaporate and you will feel great. Cook a medium sized piece of protein, eat it with 1-1.5 C of fibrous low carb vegetables with one +Tablespoon butter. Plenty of protein unless you suddenly start serious weight lifting.

Paigesion, what were the calories suggested to you? Did you leave it at sedentary? You do NOT have to eat all fat, that is just a limit. If "lose fat" was your goal it is usually suggested to NOT eat all of your fat "allowance". Do you work out? Did you click ketogains recommended?

I agree with Bluecoaster. I am T2 and needed to drop the carbs to bring my ac1 down. I was a terrible diabetic. I grabbed the tail of this tiger myself and live by the blood sugar tests. If I eat something that zooms up, I eliminate it, or find out which ingredient sent it up. I eliminated all flour, corn meal, potatoes, rice. Tons of veggies, lean chicken, tuna, burger and in one month had lost 17 lbs and all the belly fat. I do use real butter. I love a scrambled egg with spinach with a dash of mozzarella cheese. Yummy and so filling. I love my fresh out of the garden tomatoes with crunchy lettuce with nothing but salt, no dressing. I have bad kidneys so high protein is out the question. I will eat cheese in moderate servings. I feel so much more alive. I am 72 yo and have lots of disabilities and I thought getting rid of my fat would be impossible but it is not. I have not counted one calorie, fat gram, carb count, not any of that. Just check my blood sugar 30 minutes after eating and my weight has gone down from just before 180 to 157. Amazing.

I did click the recommended and yes I left it at sedentary because most days I am. I get in an hour of walking 3-4 times a week and it usually adds about 167 calories burnt. The only additional exercise I've gotten was a three mile hike that I endeavored upon with a friend but thats the first time I've ever gone hiking. Most days I just clean the house and take care of animals, and watch YouTube videos.

Something doesn't sound right with your calculations. The kg calculator doesn't go by % and I've never seen it come up with 20% carbs, it defaults to 25g carbs a day. If you manually raise it you would have to manually lower fat to stay in line with calories recommended.

I said the only thing I changed was the carb intake because I'm not on a keto diet. one serving is 220 cals. plus milk calories... I switched to skim since then, and only use one scoop at a time and it lowered it to 190 cals per drink so not so bad. only issue is skim has 11g sugar 😧

I think I'm just gonna continue with the macro set I have. Protein is less net calories than fat or carbs and I enjoy eating it. So calculators and all aside I'm happy with what it is right now, and its working for me. :) thank you for your advice though. I'm just tired of fretting over macros. What really matters is eating healthy, whether thats 50% protein or 25% carbs or 80% fat, whatever the case. The problem with a keto calc is it doesn't take into account and adjust my macros based on my personal set carb intake. I got the percentages by in put I ng the recommended into fat secret and converting them to %'s.

11g sugar is way too much for my bf who has really sensitive BS. He's diabetic and 6g sugar is all he can have daily to stay safely within 80-120 BS recommended by his doctor.
