I ate a lot of Jello yesterday. It was leftover from the BBQ, and delicious, but this morning I woke up HUNGRY. It's interesting to me, but also annoying. Being dependent on others to bring me food I can't carry is rough. My mother-in-law watches those shows with the people trying to lose weight and I never got it before, but maybe now I do a bit...what I wouldn't give to have a dozen donuts RIGHT NOW, just so I had them, because I'm hungry. If this injury took longer to heal, I could see it leading to my being really food-oriented. If my inability to get around was mental rather than physical, with no prospect for recovery, I could see how that obesity could progress.

But that's not what this is about. Having the knowledge that yes, it will get better, and yes, it's probably good for me to be getting used to the feeling of hunger (and waiting it out through necessity) is good. When I can carry a plate again, I may have worked through this. I hope I have, at least.

But for now I'm going to get dressed, hobble up the stairs, and see if there's something that will get me through the morning. I may make Jello.

The first days of my knee injury, I could stand long enough to make food, which I put in a baking pan to sit in a bag that I put around my neck to hobble back to sofa. That humbled me. I finished off the junkier food FAST. I promised myself NO junk food until I could walk to it. 10 days later, I walked to Tim Hortons & yes, ate 4 doughnuts! Walked to convenience store - ate cookies & chips. Lead to pizza delivery. Shocked me how quickly I reverted to a food addict & obsessed on what I was "missing out". I have lots of mental work ahead to rewire my brain back to Health mode! Feeling your struggles and am your "hobble sister" LOL :)

Ugh - I hear you! I'm just outside of Vancouver, have a Tim Horton's in walking distance, and have a GC burning a hole in my backpack! Injuries are the worst. We will get through them though, and be stronger for it!
