RandomColor's Journal, 24 Feb 14

Ate pretty healthily yesterday, though I forgot to take my thyroid medicine in the morning. Dinner was salmon cooked on the grill (yes it was actually warm enough!), brown and wild rice, and a salad. Went up to the Trash or Treasure and found a ton of yarn of various sizes and colors, as well as like 6 pairs of knitting needles! I lost one of the mates of my old pair, so now I'll be able to start knitting again. I also want to try crocheting and eventually learn how to make amigurumi. The hook I have is too large for that just yet though. Still not doing so well in the exercise department, but at this point in time that seems to be okay as well. I do eventually want to build up stamina for walking, and when I lose enough weight to not kill me when I try, running or jogging.

Crochet is a great way to chill out and take your mind off everyday stuff for a while. I just started to do it again after many years and can't for the life of me understand why I ever stopped!! I am now addicted to magazines and websites with crochet patterns. About to start a pink amigurumi rabbit as an Easter present for a friend's baby girl and have a pattern for a lovely little hoodie for her as well (I have 3 grandsons so far and need to borrow the girls!). I have a set of hooks with silicone grips which I find much kinder than regular skinny metal hooks and they have lovely colours; there are all types out there with all sorts of patterns - great for adding to your present wish list! And who knew the kinds of yarn now available was so massive? Brilliant. I am itching to recycle my plastic bags into plarn to crochet strong shopping bags. I wish you joy with your crafting and much luck with your w.o.e. and exercise. :0)
