When IF goes wrong!!! 😳😱😱😱
So yesterday I decided to go back to my 16:8 (no big deal right? 🤷🏾‍♀️I told myself: “you’ve done it before girl! You got this! Summer body loading... etc” 💁🏾‍♀️). Then...plot twist 😂🙌🏾:
For breakfast I decided to have my lunch - worst mistake ever!
Side note: I’m starting to realize that my worst days normally start with having lunch for breakfast for supper for breakfast 🤔 *light bulb moment* 😱.
Anyway! 😪 here I am, at work, with no lunch (because I figured the breakfast I had at 7am would keep me for the entire day). Boy! Was I wrong! 🤭 at 12pm, I Decided to buy some Sprite Zero because I was literally starving 😥 and My logic was that I should have something with 0 calories so that I don’t take away from my day” (now that I think about it; I’m not sure if Sprite Zero was a good choice 🤯). So, this is where it gets interesting: after work I have class from 5pm to 9pm 😐 Yep! You guessed it. I was STARVING and ready to kill someone. All I could think about as we were going through Economical theories and models was the stew I left at home - I.HEARD.NOTHING!!!😪. At 8pm, I walked out and drove sooo fast to get home. While frantically looking for my gate remote I found some sweets in my glove compartment and I gobbled them up there and then (the gremline had awoken 👹). I got into the house, heated by big bowl of chicken stew and rice, had a slab of cheese in between and gobbled up some more sweets 🍬. By the end of the night, I had consumed over 2000 calories (including my breakfast)! Needless to say, after indulging I felt sooo horrible and disappointed in myself. But unlike other times I’ve binged, I immediately set out to see what I should tweak and correct, because clearly my day went horribly wrong 😳

So now I’m trying to figure out what I did wrong. Was it the meal I had? Or the fact that I had it early? 🤷🏾‍♀️ how do you people spread out your meals when you do IF (in particular OMAD or 16:8: or the 24 hour one. What time is best to start or finish?

I started IF for the first time on Sunday. It is going well so far. My doctor suggested 6pm to 10am fast. So I have a late breakfast. So far it is working for me. Keeping full on coffee.

Ah! Thanks Les! I’m going to try that one! It sounds less painful than 3pm to 7am

Yeah, I agree with Les... It's easier to skip a breakfast & have lunch around 1 - 2. Because from dinner time, up until 1 pm, should be +/- 16 hours. Which includes your sleep. I do OMAD. No b/fast, no lunch, only dinner on weekdays, but I work from 8 am - 5 pm.

I guess it depends on the person. I've always found that as soon as I eat breakfast my hunger is activated and I feel the need to eat frequently. If I don't eat breakfast I can usually easily get to 4pm+ without really thinking of food. I much prefer later meals. Dinner is and has always been my most important meal. My day is not complete without it 😂😂😂

I have been IF'ing for probably a month now, if not longer. I do 16:8. My feeding window is between 2pm and 10pm. This really works me :)

I think it's about finding what work for your body and daily schedule, but a lot of people find it easier to miss breakfast (or delay). That's how I started and after a few days, the body adjusts accordingly. Good luck finding what works for you!

I prefer having dinner before 6pm. before 5pm suits me even better. Then have lunch following afternoon around 12 or 1pm.

There's an app you can download - body fast.. It has different types of fasts that you can use. I started a few months ago with 14:10 which is for beginners (ate at 10am stopped at 8pm). Now I eat from 1pm to 8pm (17:7), my body just adjusted.. Maybe start slow and work your way up..

Thanks everyone. I’ve adjusted my hours from 7am-3pm to start my window around 10am also. I’ll do this for a little while and see what works best. Yesterday I did the 24hrs and I must say, it went very well. Like @Espeecee, it looks like I do better if I delay meals rather than eat early 😂. I struggle with eating “late”, so I can see I’m gonna have to adjust my lunch and dinner times to ensure that I am okay at my given times - otherwise I will end up binging 😖. Thank you so much for all your comments and help! I know most of you said I should do what works, but sharing what YOU do really helped me navigate to my final decision. I highly appreciate you all! 😁😁

When I do 16:8 IF i try to eat my last meal at 6pm mwaning I get to have breakfast at 10am. To keep myself from feeling like I'm starving I have a bulletproof coffe (find recipe on internet) it keeps me full for a long time. My breakfast is usually large so it keeps me full until quite late
