Because you "increased exercise." Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight fluctuation. New exercise or changing our current exercise (like adding more) can cause muscles to retain water to help them heal. I did "upper body" yesterday and i'm up 3 pounds from yesterday. It stinks. But it's temporary and will go away in a few days.

I also think maybe we should only check scale 1 time a week. Then we are not so hard on ourselves for a one day slip up. Not that excercise is a slip up...just the opposite. Just saying it's another reason to not be so hard on ourselves.

Raj, keep with your good diet and work efforts and the scale results will be inevitable...water weight is highly variable...hopefully you are seeing some other indications of fat loss over the last 17 days.

From water retention to glycogen storage and changes in lean body mass, daily weight fluctuations are normal. They are not indicators of your success or failure. Once you understand how these mechanisms work, you can free yourself from the daily battle with the bathroom scale. This is what I liked most!phewx!now I know!!!!
