dgthomas's Journal, 12 Jun 14

started a new routine of stretching and tai jitsu daily. Sticking to diet as well as I can, taken on a new attitude towards food, not scared of it anymore - no bad and good labels those are out the window. All food can be bad or good depending how you use it. I am now more aware of comfort foods i have such as chips and bread. I now realize that most of my stomach turmoils were caused by lactose and gluten. Its not an allergy but more of an intolerance. I realize I do not like how my body reacts to either of these so i tend to avoid them now. As for my comfort food i am trying to find a replacement for my need for comfort foods, if i am down i fall back on my routine of stretching and training. I hope this last for a while - they say it takes 6 weeks to develop a new habit so i am going to try to stick to it. Since my return to this way of eating i noticed my clothes are starting to fit better and even getting a little loose but, slow and steady wins the race. I am also not relying on other for my success - i blamed my wife for my failure earlier and realized that it is all within my control and i am not a victim to anyone except my own desires. I have learned not to punish myself for a falter but also not allowing that to turn into a bender then a full out quit - as I have done in the past. I would say that i am into my 3rd week and my body is starting to adjust to this way of eating again, heartburn gone, bloated feeling gone, uncontrollable runs (lactose) gone. Now to increase exercise and start to take control of my blood sugar. the lesson is baby steps and one day at a time and try not to plan for when i am skinny or when i feel healthy instead just live the new way.
