So I signed up for a weight lifting class at the Y. I've never been into lifting weights but whenever I've tried it, it's always been after a 20 minute intro on how to use the machines. I've never really had any structure or training on how to do it properly. I was thinking this class would give me that.

Not so much. It's more like an aerobics class in that the instructor just tells you what to do and then you go do it. No explanation as to why or what you are working on. That said, it's a heck of a workout. The hour goes fast and I'm beat afterwards. The problem is that we do something different ever time, so there's no way I can do any of this on my own.

I'm thinking a personal trainer may be something to try. It's DIRT CHEAP at the Y where I go ($15 for 15 1 hour sessions). I'll have to look into that once this class is done.

The class sounds frustrating. But what I can say is that adding weights to my routine when I started the journey to a better self again a few years ago (has it really been that long now???) was the best thing I every did. I could never lose weight and keep it off in the past until I added the weights to the repertoire. It helps a ton. And if you can find someone to help you with it for cheap, I say do it.
