18 November 2011

We had a cold front move through here last night and this morning it is cool and breezy. I don't think it's going to last until Thanksgiving so hopefully another front will come through this week.

I have been painting yesterday and today for the handywoman I met at the art festival. It is a rental house so nothing fancy, just making it look clean. We are also replacing bathroom vanities and tiling the bathrooms, the others are working on that while I am painting. I know it seems to be weird work for a woman but I love it!

Everything I've always wanted seems to be falling in place for me and I am excited about the future. I went through some really rough times in the past ten years, but I stuck it out and here I am!

Well must get ready to go sling some paint so it's off with me!

Have a wonderful weekend and I wish peace and happiness for all.

16 November 2011

We may reach a record high temperature for November this week, it is humid and warm and I'm ready for the lovely crisp weather to come back! I am working at the store today all day, no time for the gym this morning but I am still really sore and now stiff from the session on Monday so I need to do something today to loosen up, hopefully a bike ride after work if it doesn't rain.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! Where did the year go... what a great year it's been and I am looking forward to the holidays.

I am no longer using FS to record my food and exercise, I found a site called FitClick a while back and I like the tools for tracking on that site a lot better. I will be here regardless to weigh in and keep in touch with all of my buds. I treasure all of the lovely, inspirational people I have met here since I joined.

Well it's off to work with me. Have a wonderful day and I am glad to be here!

ONWARD!!!

15 November 2011

Good morning world! It is a lovely rather warm day here in auntiejanland, and I am getting ready for work at the store today.

I am very sore this morning, but it's a good thing. I had a one on one session with Elisa the trainer from hell yesterday, and boy did she kick my butt! I have graduated, leaving the weight machines behind and now on to floor exercises and free weights. She fully understands the issue with my leg and foot numbness and set up a workout to help me overcome that issue. Wow. More on that later.

After the session I walked over to the water fountain to get a drink of water and one of the regulars at the gym, a very nice older man grinned and asked me "why did you have to pick the toughest trainer in the whole gym?" to which I replied "because she is AWESOME!" and I should have also said "and because I love challenges".

Anyway, this new floor workout will be an every other day thing because it is so intense. I will continue with cardio most days of the week however.

Well no more time for writing right now as I have to get to work.

It is a beautiful day and I am glad to be in it.

Peace.

12 November 2011

It has been a crazy few weeks here in auntiejanland. Ups and downs, but mostly ups. I have strayed away from my plan and my diet has suffered, mostly due to lack of planning and some of it due to circumstance. I knew I had gained some weight back and when I finally got to the gym my suspicions were verified.

I hate going backwards, but in a way it is a good opportunity to use my newly acquired coping skills. Instead of getting all depressed and giving up, my resolution is strong and I will do the work necessary to get back on track.

It started while I was house and doggie sitting and continued when I got home and all of a sudden I found myself with more work than I can handle. It is a wonderful problem and I'm glad to have it, but I need to remember to take care of myself as well.

So yesterday I managed to get to the gym for about an hour and while I was there I spoke to Elisa, the trainer at my gym. I made an appointment with her for a one on one session for an hour, I explained to her what my goals are approaching the holidays and the challenges I have with the numbness issues in my foot.

On other fronts I had an awesome time last weekend at the camp 50 year reunion, the food was definitely NOT in my plan but I didn't plan ahead and take stuff I could eat instead. Unfortunately my sister got sick a few hours after we arrived and I ended up taking her to the ER in the nearest town to camp at 3 am. They admitted her and kept her until Tuesday of the next week, diagnosed with colitis.

I had to work Tuesday so her son drove up to get her and brought her home. So she was home for about 4 hours and long story short at 11:00 at night I was following her and the EMTs transporting her to the ER here. It was after 3:30 in the morning when I finally got home and gor to bed. After four hours of sleep I had to be up and at work. Yay.

Oh but it doesn't end there. Oh no, not when she is in full blown hypochondriac mode. Wednesday night I am just getting to a deep sleep when at 1 am I am awakened by the barking shelties announcing the arrival of the EMTs at our door. Diagnosis? She was fine. After an hour I finally crawled back into bed.

Which brings us to yesterday morning, when she asks me if I could take her to the walk-in clinic. I replied that I was getting ready for work and she would have to drive herself. Diagnosis: minor side effects from new meds.

I am really glad to have my sister, and I love her, but enough is enough. Hopefully I'll get some rest this weekend!

Have a great weekend and peace to all.

Getting ready for work at Segunda Vida today, then leaving for the camp reunion in the afternoon. I was a teenager when I last set foot on the camp property. It is such a beautiful place and it will be fun to see so many people that were such an important part of my teenage years.

Yesterday I worked with Deborah the handywoman, we definitely hit it off and we got a lot done. We were at one end of town to the other and we did everything from repairing privacy fences, installing a mailbox, repairing a porch ceiling, patching a roof, fixing a screen door, and doing a couple estimates. It was a busy day! She paid me well and for that I am extremely grateful!

I have to get a schedule figured out so I can get my gym time in. Yes, I know I do very physical work and yesterday I probably burned a gazillion calories, but I love my gym time because it something I do just for me. It will all work out. It's a wonderful problem to have!

Well this butterfly needs to get her bloody wings a-flappin' and get down the road. (I threw the "bloody" part in for Skinny and Tracy LOL).

Have a great weekend! Peace.
