I took a temporary hiatus from the Keto style diet for about a month. I noticed some gains in weight immediately once returning to a normal diet, even though I limited my calorie intake to prevent weight gain. Now, I did eat out and there were meals that were excessive in caloric content, but I tried to offset those with reduced intakes prior and after. It looks like everything went ok, as after a few days of returning to a Keto style diet I have returned to my previous weight. The reason this makes me feel so happy is because it means that I managed to keep the food intake in control even with the extreme urges I experienced outside of the Keto diet.

I took a break for a number of reasons, the main of which being for social purposes, but the end result was good. My concern is that I didn't lose hardly any weight during that time, but there were a number of meals that I simply could not properly track. Many of my favorite foods are not given proper nutritional information as they're from small, ma and pa style shops.

I'm sure everyone has their own reason(s) for dieting, but mine are more than just to be healthier. I've experienced fat shaming, criticism, and the like in many degrees. Some obvious, and some less obvious. It is in part why it took so long for me to get my life off the ground. Anyone that is struggling with their weight just know that you're not alone. It took me years to find something that seems to work for me long-term, and it may just be you haven't found what you need yet.

I had hoped to be in the high 240's by the end of this week, but I am not quite there yet. Good progress though, and based on the rate of weight loss I should be there next week.

I'm definitely noticing changes in my body, but one change has me a little concerned as there appears to be excess skin starting to show on my upper arms. I noticed these last few days that while working my sleeves would ride up and then get stuck, and it is embarrassing to have that happen because it isn't like having a solid arm up there. It is just a flap of skin with some fat in it.

I knew it would happen with such a large amount of weight to lose, but without the ability to work out and add muscle, with my bad back, I am at the mercy of genetics to see if it'll recede.

Surgery isn't really an option. Even if I could afford it I couldn't be away from work that long.

I decided to review my progress to better understand what has happened overall thus far. Since I joined FatSecret in the beginning of January, I have lost a total of 30.4 pounds. About 10lbs a month is phenomenal!

Weight Loss:

January: ~ 10lbs
February: ~ 0lbs (I definitely struggled with the diet this month.)
March: ~ 20lbs

I managed to drop down a size in shirts and two sizes in pants, and overall I feel better for it.

I stopped exercising because I believed back pain was being increased by it. Most people I talked to about it made me feel self-conscious about it, and acted as if it was something that simply would get better with more exercise. I am pretty sure that's not the case, otherwise it would have gotten better as I lost weight and progressed instead of getting worse. Will be seeing a doctor tomorrow, hopefully I can get some relief D:!

So, for now, the focus is entirely on diet. I hope to lose another 10-15 pounds before this month is over. If all goes well, perhaps I'll hit or approach my goal before the end of the year.
