I'm excited to weigh in on Sunday. I know it'll be a decent drop. (I might have cheated and weighed myself, but it isn't official until Sunday so no weigh-ins!)

This Sunday I am going to have my Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) tested again. I first had this test performed in the beginning of January when I was 289lbs. The individual performing the test encouraged me to try out Fat Secret after I explained I've been keeping an excel sheet to count my calories. I originally told her I wanted to try a low carb diet as I feel it may be my best bet at losing weight. She stated that I should instead try a more balanced diet, but later followed up with me and said a low carbohydrate diet may be just what I need. I ignored her initial advice and was already on my way with the new diet, no offense to any fitness professionals, as I felt that advice was not well tailored for my particular situation.

I haven't met this person in a little more than half a year. Based on my last weigh in, that was about 50lbs ago. I want to go in there and be like, "so maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all". (LOL :D)

The funny "I told you so" aside, I really just want to see where my metabolism is at so that I can adjust my calorie intake if needed. I also will get a better idea of how much I can eat on my higher calorie days without being too excessive.

Well, I have to say that I am feeling a bit low right now. I'm just a little depressed. I'm thinking it might be in part due to a lack of potassium/magnesium. I've been unable to take my supplements due to this ulcer. I'm afraid I'll make it worse.

I try hard to get better and I run into some obstacles that seem a bit cruel. I know that I can over come them if I just focus on it, but my initial reaction tends to be to throw my hands in the air and run for the hills. I'll fix this. It'll all get better. I just need to focus on the positives.

I've lost an incredible amount of weight. I managed to get rid of my hypertension and likely prevented myself from an eventual diabetes diagnosis I'd receive if I had continued on that path. I've got myself into a decent job and I'm making head way in putting my life back together after it all fell part a couple years ago. A lot of things could be better, but they could also be very much worse. I just need to keep pushing to reach those greener pastures.

My goals are to get my weight down to a comfortable 200. (I would like to at least temporarily breach into the 190s just to say I was in "onederland" just once lol.) All the while I'll work on becoming more fit. I know that eventually I'll need to have the scale start moving in the other direction to really put some muscle on, but I don't need to over do it. I need to do some more research before I go into "bulk" mode. I know an excess is required to really put on the muscle, but I'm sure there are smarter, more efficient ways that won't put on as much fat without reducing the muscle gains.

I want to be fit and healthy! I've never had that in my entire life, and my "prime time" is pretty much over. Need to get it there NOW. Want to live a long and healthy life with friends and family. That won'thappen if I don't keep making changes.

I'm considering visiting a dietician so that I can get some advice on how to continue my weight loss while still putting on muscle. I am concerned I am not eating enough protein, but I worry I will eat too much protein and screw up my Ketosis. It was fairly simple when I wasn't worried about gaining or losing muscle, but now that I'm trying to change my physique it is concerning. This is in part because I do not fully understand how the process works.

If I am in a caloric deficit, will the body prefer to use the protein I consume for muscle repair or for calories? I know that once I am in Ketosis, the body will primarily rely on Ketones for energy. However, I know that I have been knocked out of Ketosis when the fat to protein ratio was too skewed. I also wonder if eating an excess of calories, even if it meets the macro ratios for Ketosis, would prevent the Ketosis from occurring properly.

I feel much better during Ketosis than I do when I am on my normal every da diet. Any Ketosis dieters that are also body builders able to answer these questions so that I can continue to feel better while also increasing my muscle mass?

How are proteins used by the body when in a calorie deficit?

How do I know how much protein I can eat without breaking Ketosis?

As a treat I went to the store and bought some much needed items. I felt like splurging, so I finally got the bathroom scale I've been eyeing that has a few interesting features beyond simply remembering weight for multiple people. I'm curious to see how it functions. I may just do another weigh in today just to get a starter weigh in on the new scale. I'm hoping that the body fat analysis is more accurate than the formula I've been using to calculate body fat!

I'm going to research a testing facility that can do the water submersion test, I forget the name at this moment, and try to set that up for the beginning of next month. I want to get a real analysis done as a comparison.

I have scheduled an RMR test for the beginning of July with the same trainer/tester that I met in January. I don't think she realized I was someone she had already tested based on her responses, so I intend to bring my previous test results as a "HAH! TOLD YOU I SHOULD DO LOW CARB!" :D. The last time I met that person was just over 50lbs ago, so if she recognizes me she should see a marked improvement. It'd be nice to know where my metabolism is at compared to where it was at the beginning of the year, and perhaps to get some advice on continued fat loss/muscle gain.
