23 July 2016

Just completed an 18 hour fast. It wasn't necessarily intended, but it just took that long to feel the need to eat. I guess keeping busy helps!

What I WANT to eat is what is cooking right now, but that won't be done until tonight and it is for TOMORROW and MONDAY so it is a no go. (It has starchy vegetables in it, and that's only for my work out days.)

I think I'll start with some eggs!

As I am writing this I get an unexpected knock at the door. Turns out I have a package ahead of schedule. I work at the office that delivers to my house, so normally I just set it aside and take it home. I had the day off though so I didn't sort it.

Turns out my foam roller came in! It is a little larger than I thought, but it will do well to help knead out my back and mobile the spine. I know that he is supposed to do this anyway, but I'm glad he stopped by and dropped this off today. I'll give it a shot, hopefully it'll help my back.

Day 8: Rest Day (Rotation 2, Day 4)

I was fighting some severe cravings for foods that were of the unhealthy variety yesterday. I find that I have a much harder time dealing with lower calorie intake on off days, particularly when I'm exceptionally bored or unable to deal with some type of stress. As a compromise I allowed myself some extra calories while staying within the range of relatively healthy foods. I just needed to keep from sabotaging the plan with some type of fast food.

Even with the extra calories I still dropped a lot of water weight as I didn't eat as many carbs. There is also the fact that I actually slept the entire night instead of 4 - 5 hours with repeated wake ups, so there is that too.

Today's plan is to hit the store to get the items needed to cook up the next batch of food for the next rotation. Tomorrow is a lift day and I don't have a lot of food ready to go that meets the day's macro needs, so I better get to it!

Day 7: Rest Day (Rotation 2, Day 3)

I have a three day weekend again! These are always nice, especially when they're so rare, and it'll let me get meal prep out of the way. My food spoiled on me yesterday and my fresh chicken in the fridge spoiled too, so I had to rethink my meals a few times. In my defense it was supposed to have a longer shelf life, but I should had frozen it and put it away.

I expected to see an increase today as the last two days were higher carb days. That is the pattern that one would expect from the carb cycling, but there were some variables that might have affected that result. For one, yesterday was a hellish work day, and I did my work out on top of that. For two, went to bed later and slept a whole seven hours, so that probably accounts for that initial loss. I'll write a little note for myself to remember why this data point was so far off course.

I'm going to try to eat less carbs this time around while still keeping my protein to around 170-200g. I'll allow up to 100g of carbs, but I'm going to aim for 50 or lower. I have a little bit of a social activity today that might involve eating, but I'll pick smart choices to keep the carbs and calories restricted as planned.

Day 5: Lift Day (Rotation 2, Day 1)

I expect that most of the weight is now gone, but it is hard to tell without staying low carb for another day or two and dropping off the creatine. ( I was so bloated the second lift day of the last rotation that I literally measured a 51 inch waist. It is back down to 48 today, so that kind of shows the difference that a sudden increase of carbs and creatine can cause.)

Today is an upper body work out day. I ordered a couple goodies just for that, they won't be here until Friday probably, but they will assist in that endeavor. One of the goodies is a foam roller. I have learned that this may be very beneficial to help mobilize my spine and all of its joints. I know there are other benefits too, but that is the foremost reason in my mind to use it. That, and to help massage out the muscles.

Time to go. Taking some pre workout and will get to it!
