~~~The long and winding roooaaaad...~~~ Oh, had to sing a little this morning. lol
I am taking yet another math test this afternoon. This is a requirement of the unemployment dept to see if I am qualified to go to college. "What," you ask. "Isn't that a little foolish and a waste of your time and the tax payers money? Didn't you go to college once already?"
Why, yes. Yes it is and yes I did. I actually started on this path to be a nurse 20-some years ago and got side-tracked by complications with pregnancies and one premature baby who required a lot of care for a long time. Plus, I already took a math placement test at the community college I'll attend, AND a general chemistry exam to prove I could re-take the anatomy/physiology courses I aced 20-some years ago.
Taking a breath here. Anyway. This math test is a requirement to get unemployment to help pay for your schooling. They don't care if you passed calculus with a perfect score at Harvard. If you are asking them for help, you takes the test.
Pardon me while I sing a few more verses of The Long and Winding Road. hehehehehe
The weight is down again. Partly, I think, because I had another gallbladder attack. I know what the offending food was. I've been eating green beans seasoned with salt pork. And not just a little bit. Nope. I made a pig of myself. I was eating so much and so often that I omitted my onions in favor of a little onion powder and switched to a fatty ham joint instead of the salt pork. I figured the joint was a not quite so much fat. Silly me. I spent a day bringing back up the fat.
Anytime I've had a scan of my gallbladder, they can't find anything. I think if I could get in while I'm actually doing the vomiting, they might be able to see something, but I'm too sick to get in the car and go anywhere. Bottom line is, unless it becomes acute, they'll put me on a bland, low fat diet. So, I'll try to keep it bland and as low in fat as I can without giving up atkins.
I had a hungry day yesterday. I went over my RDI by a little over 100 calories, and up on my carbs over my usual and customary. I usually stick pretty close to the 20 to 25 range. Yesterday, I went over 30. I guess cottage cheese and fresh green beans in one day is too much. Oh, how I love those fresh green beans! lol Or maybe I should cook them with beef or chicken broth instead of the salt pork. That would reduce the fat and calories at least.
I can just squeeze into a pair of jeans I haven't worn in 2 years. I have to lie on the bed to zip them, so I still don't wear them (just try them on), but I consider it a victory that I can get them zipped up, even if I do have to lie down on the bed to do it! I couldn't get them up to my waist to fasten them even a month ago.
Further proof: my step dad, who never notices anything, recently told me I was looking good and to keep it up. Wow.
