I'm a computer programmer, by nature fairly sedentary. Some call me lazy, I prefer to see it as having an efficiency in my movements. This is one of my hurdles that I am working on.
I have always been overweight (5'8, 225 my senior year of high school, moving up to the 300's in college, topping out at 325). I've known the techniques of how to lose weight, but lacked the motivation. Being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about in 2008 has helped me watch some of what I ate, but even that began to slip after a few months.
I like reading, computer games, watching TV, listening to music (notice there aren't many activities that require movement...). More recently i am enjoying working out on my home gym. It gives a good feeling, and it fits my lifestyle. Too lazy to go to a gym? Go upstairs and work out! And I can do it anytime that I want.
I do find it somewhat humorous that the year after I turned 35 will be the year that I will be in the best condition of my adult life.
