I'm hoping to lose a lot of weight: 6 stones (84 lbs). My history is that I had gradually lost roughly 3+ stones (45+ lbs)over years following moving to a city where I get a lot of walking in & generally eating healthier. I joined a gym & kept a steady weight - I was still overweight but in pretty good shape & was looking to lose more gradually.
Suffering the late loss of my baby in 2012 plus two miscarriages on either side of that, I began to put on a lot of weight in addition to the 'baby' weight already gained.
Before the pregnancies I wasn't dieting but gently working out 3-5 days a week, plus running around on foot. After those pregnancies & the mourning which surrounded the late loss, my hormones got out of whack & my age was certainly a factor (I'm middle-aged) but also I totally gave up on everything; stopped exercising, stopped my generally healthier eating & managed to gain enough weight to surpass my pregnancy weight, pushing my BMI past the red-zone. So here I am. Now I'm wanting to get pregnant again, but as petite as I am, I really don't want to risk another pregnancy so overweight, or continue to physically carry around the fruits of the traumas I suffered in 2012.
But I can't take years like before to lose weight so I came up with a plan: long ago, before the Atkins fad, I got fast and dramatic results on a low carb diet. So I decided to try low-carbing again. I bought the the Dissident Diet book to catch up on current information on low-carbing.
I haven't made quite enough time for daily working out, but I bought a pedometer & have been tracking my daily steps. The goal is to get about 3 miles (10,000 steps) a day at least.
I have broken down a big goal into sections: my first is to get down to 12.5 stones (175 lbs) then set another goal & take it from there.
I found this site through recently carb-checking my favorite foods online, and thought it would be an excellent way to track what I am eating & my weight loss.
