I'm an office worker (programmer) who has seen himself balloon over the past 10 years. I used to think I could eat anything and not gain weight but once I hit my 20s this stopped being true. but it took me quite a while to realise. once I quit smoking, my appetite increased and so did my weight.
I used to be on a 2000 calory diet with 2 or 3 times a week a trip to the gym.
I kept this up for nearly a year at which point I started suffering tremors, low bloodpressure spikes and eventually passed out, hit my head and gave myself a concussion.
at this point I decided to call it quits for a while on the dieting.
my goal used to be, to get my BMI down into normal ranges, build up muscle and overall be healthy.
Currently I am on a 2500 calory diet and I cycle about every other day (30km or more) at a decent speed. Once I plateau I plan to drop my intake a bit (if I feel like it) but mostly keep up exercising and being healthy. I am no longer going to worry about my weight itself (though it is still fun to measure) but instead want to focus on health. I am definitely not going to diet till I drop anymore.
