I am a 65 y.o grandmother of 3. I live with my youngest, unmarried son in Fishkill, NY. I have been overweight all my life and as I went through menopause, the weight kept creeping up on me. At my heaviest, I weighed 222 lbs and I am only 5' 2".
I am exceedingly fortunate that I am still in good health. Diabetes runs in my family but thankfully, I do not have it and I want to keep it that way. I do have really bad knees. I am sure that my weight has contributed to the problem, plus I have taken several bad falls and have landed on my knees each time, just making the problem worse. Exercise is difficult because of my knees, but I am really hoping that once I lose a decent amount of the 45 lbs I hope to shed, that not only will I be able to start exercising again, but that I will continue to forestall the "diabetes curse"
