My name is Doug, I got the name for my profile "doogles" from one of my wife's life long friends, so I said,"What the heck, it's as good a name as any".
I am a 45 year old disabled veteran that was just diagnosed as a type II diabetic and my doctor also told me my liver was starting to fail. I was told that I have fatty liver disease. I am considered obese for my height so I decided it was time to do something about my health! I actually started trying to lose weight at 237 lbs. I got down to 227 lbs., went back the doctor, and she was floored by how much my blood-work changed by just losing 10 lbs. My wife then started hounding me about getting on Atkins with her so I decided to give it a try. I started at 227 lbs. and am now at 209 lbs. I feel much better, have more energy and my body doesn't ache as much either. Oh, did I mention that I also have severe rheumatoid arthritis in all of my joints? It is controlled by injections though! I have another Dr. apmt in late March and she will be very surprised when she sees me. I will probably be at around 200 or 205. I haven't weighed that much in 25 years. Things are going great right now and my body is feeling great, so I will keep pressing on!! Good luck to you all in your weight loss endeavors!!!
