Hey Everyone,

Still working on this journey of mine. All I can say is I am overwhelmed. Way, way overwhelmed. What are things that helps you get out of a slump? Is it a change of scenery, or a new routine...?

Also curious as to how to get rid of that "tight" feeling around the belly.
I drink nothing but water, I've given up soda, so I know it's not the bubbles, I have eaten Brussels sprouts, and cabbage lately... Which i know can sometimes cause some bloating... but this is worse than just a little gas.
Is there a tea, water pill, tablet that helps? I feel like Violet from Willy Wonka... my stomach feels like it keeps growing and growing. No matter what I eat or drink.

Advice. Please!!

Sorry you are having that issue. If you feel you are doing everything right, including drinking a lot of water, you might want to check with your doctor. Especially if you feel it is extreme bloating.

Thanks. I don't think it's gone so far I have to see a doc. I'm not in pain, thankfully. But I'm not comfortable either.

Okay. But do keep that in mind. Have you tried peppermint tea or ginger tea? Those two teas help with stomach issues. I use them occasionally. I have read where using fresh ginger root shavings in food helps but I haven't tried that :) How is your salt intake? Crackers, pretzels and so many other processed foods are full of sodium.

I can identify. I think I'm eating so healthy...why am I so miserable? Then, I remembered. One of the reasons I started tracking again was to track nutrients and water, as several of my drugs, the first two side effects are constipation and fatigue. So now that I'm eating 25-30 g fiber? I read that a sudden increase in fiber can cause bloating. Like your system needs time to adjust. Does that make sense?

I agree with Kattay if you keep feeling like that mention it to your doctor.

H. pylori also could be the cause. I was tested by a breath test positive, because I was also feeling bloated and tight. I was put on anti and all clear now. I had no Idea tho.. My sister was diagnosed, and mentioned maybe I should to. Glad I did.

Hello, I noticed your statement on belly bloating, discomfort...and such. If symptoms still persist you should seek your Doctor's medical advice and supervision. However, if cleared you may try the following suggestions. For starters ensure you haven't any allergies to certain foods. Then if I may kindly ask --how many glasses of water are you drinking daily? You could actually be drinking too much try for 5 to 7 (6 or 8 ounce glasses) as a jumping off point. Secondly, I've noticed past few days there are not any posts for eating ---what is your RDI (recommended caloric intake per day)? Do you even know what it is supposed to be ? If not I have an easy formula/equation to determine this. In accordance to earlier entries you've made, you were only around 700 calories or less daily.... I believe this is significantly lower than where it should be so your body is storing and retaining everything because it thinks it is in starvation mode. You need to increase caloric intake to get your metabolism moving again. I suggest beginning slowly again such as taking CHIA seeds in water, pumpkin seeds, blackberries in small quantities, raspberries, or blueberries....Why you ask? Because the small seeds while/or when being passed will absorb bile or other blockages within the liver and pancreas which then are excreted from the body during bathroom times. ....The blueberries will assist in kidney function and provide antioxidants. Eat small portions, thinnest, leanest of meats 96% lean preferably, stay away from hard to digest fat. Eat for example Tuna in water (low salt), Laura's brand Ground Sirloin or something similar, Ribeye shaved thin strips, bison, ostrich, small amount of turkey. Eggs - scrambled/hard boiled/ fried only if cracked from shell no additives like butter or oil (Natural only)....Stay away from breads ( I know myself from having relatives in the south it is hard to stay away from cornbread but do it for a while) , corn (stay away from temporarily as it is hard to digest), cereals, and oatmeal (temporarily same), and any other hard to digest carbohydrates (like potatoes, carrots (unless cooked), celery while good from time to time is difficult to digest immediately as well. Eat small amount of grits in place of oatmeal for while if you like (but no sugar or butter--just plain) .... What I suggest is merely to kick start your metabolism to take food in, digest rapidly, and pass.......This does not have to been done all the time unless desired, however it is designed to rev up your metabolism without bringing pain or discomfort from bloating caused perhaps by hard to digest foods. This goes without saying stay away from cakes, pies, ice cream.....will hurt your progress. Add small amounts of garbanzo beans, kidney or pinto beans in small portions (will be gas at the beginning but will pass with time). Eat water foods like beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, orange juice with natural pulp.... While this may sound ridiculous to many persons; utilizing this in association with water or unsweetened tea w/lemon wedge, or water and apple cider vinegar - will cleanse the body briefly and easily....without adding to the extremely full sensations. Eat more lean fish or chicken breast not fried however.... only once in a while eat lean meats mentioned (not daily), and perform the rest of this for a period of time to give it a go.....it may take a few days to settle in.....If at that point there is no immediate relief, then check with the doctor as you may have some form of medical issue, like bowel blockages, kidney stones, or other issue. These are not meant to scare you but rather provide a detailed analysis of what may help you get back on track. These suggestions are based from my own personal experiences, and those persons I know which have Gerd/IBS, stomach and colon related issues. These are also some things I learned from some of my educational training in sports/medical/nutritional areas.

Back when I began I introduced too much fiber too quickly and suffered for a few weeks to a month. Prior to changing my way of eating I suffered bouts of IBS, so if you have a delicate digestive track and added more than the typical amount fiber that could be your source of soreness and bloating. I can now eat up to 50 g of fiber, but it still messes with me.

it's your mindset. I had lots of humps to get over, plateaus to get thru temptations to overcome, etc. If i had gains, etc and i was frustrated and felt like giving up all i had to tell myself was, "if i quit now i'm only gonna go in the opposite direction i want to and i'll get even more upset. i just have to keep moving forward and keep on keepin on".

Hello bodybeautiful, what is your WOE and daily calorie target? Are you diabetic, or have other health issues?

Also, sugar alcohols - xylitol, erythritol, maltitol, used as sugar substitutes, can cause bloating and discomfort.

If your stomach constantly feels tight and feels like you are full there could be a couple of medical reasons for that. Hiatal hernia will cause that and also gastroparesis. I have gastroparesis and my stomach gets very tight. You should check with your doctor.
