I haven't been avoiding my journal, this past week and a half; I've just been rippin', and runnin' so much that I haven't had time to do much more than keep up with my food diary. Hi all. :-) The time has been filled with some ups and downs, victories, and temptations. Early last week, I had to deal with a power outage, caused by high winds knocking down the power lines, for 30 hours, and threatening a loss of my freezer full of food; plus everything in my fridge; but that turned out okay. While dealing with that, I went out to dinner with my sister and a friend of her's, to The Red Lobster. I handled that pretty well; having the grilled lobster and shrimp skewers combo, with a side of steamed snow crab legs, and doubling up on the broccoli, in lieu of the rice pilaf. I was proud of the fact that I left the Cheddar Bay Biscuits all to my sister, and her friend. :-) That was hard to do.
I've also been checking out dojos, karate training halls, as I've said in a previous post, and though both of them are great; the one I went to, on Tuesday, holds the most promise for my continued developement as a martial artist, so I'm going again today. If you haven't tried out a martial arts class, before, but would like to; American Kenpo Karate is very addicting; only one class and I'm hooked already. LOL :-)
Finally, I must be getting a lot better at avoiding temptation. I bypassed a display of sweet corn on the cob; which I could just see myself slathering with melted butter, and was on sale at the supermarket, the other day. Also! At the school, I worked at today, there was a spread of goodies left over from a celebration they were having, and I'm sure they wouldn't have minded if I helped myself to a plate of, before leaving; but I took a quick look, and walked away from the meatballs with gravy, a huge sheet cake with frosting, and scads of cupcakes, which in the past I would have partaken of without hesitation, to be a two fisted cupcake eater. I happily walked away, telling myself, " I don't need any of that stuff"!
And last, though I haven't lost any weight, in the past week or so; I'm happy to say, I haven't gained any either. :-) This way of eating can be so rewarding, yet challenging, at the same time. But, I know it's worth it in the long run. :-)
