I think I am getting the hang of this dieting. I had heard it before, but it is really true portion size makes a BIG difference. But thing I always thought before was that portions mattered most on the main dishes. But really for me its the calories I don't notice like the calories in a tsp vs. tbsp of butter. Makes a big difference throughout the day. I am recording everything, looking at how it adds up calorie wise and trimming the portions of the stuff that puts my counts over the top. I can choose salsa rather than sour cream on my taco salad. I can slice up 3 olives on my salad instead of having 6 whole olives. Spread around like that the flavor still comes through and I save half the calories!
Also after all I have heard about protein filling you up, I try to make sure I have some frequently. String cheese is a great snack to fight the hungry feeling.
Now my problem is that my body had different ideas. On the record it looks like I am consuming fewer calories than I am expending. BUT my body has decided not to reflect it. What's with that!!! I know we all go through it, but it is so discouraging. I have upped my daily calorie intake a bit to see if maybe I have a stalled metabolism.
I should go out and exercise, but the lovely weather from the weekend is a distant memory now. It is pouring outside. I can hear the wet tires on the roadway not far from where I work and see people walking by with their umbrellas out.
I need a buddy from Australia that I can go visit this time of year. :)
