mommy's Journal, 19 Jun 07

hello all my fellow smashers... well I have made it to day nine and its 5 o clock, and so far no cheats what so ever!! yayayya!!! Iam feeling great, and inspired, and ready for phase 2. and Iam also excited about my weigh in for tomorrow morning... kinda excited, but nervous really is the better word, lol. it will be interesting to see how things go. I will for sure come and post, so keep your eyes open tomorrow!!
I have yet to get a work out in today, its been super busy, and my hubby just called and he is going to be late, but I need this... so I think after super and the kids are calmed down Iam going to set a date with Billy again. Idealy I would rather work out in the morning, I feel more energized, and I think its a better way to start the day, however a work out at night is better then no work out. so, I will be doing one, simple as that!!
Iam curious about phase 2. and would love some insite. the message board dosnt seem like a great resource for some reason. if there are any journal readers out there, that are currently on phase 2, come and tell me how it is. what changes did you notices, bumps in the road you may have hit.... anything!!! Iam all ears. :)
Thank you to everyone for getting me through phase 1, especially the first couple of days. its so nice to have a place to come to for support, and you all are wonderful. untill next time.... Keep Smashing :) xoxo

Phase 2 can be fun since you can add meat and avocados (I love creamy avocados). What worked for me was reaching to my comfort cultural foods. I'm Puerto Rican and grew up on many tropical (and exotic) fruits and veggies, including avocados. That's all I (and now my mom) looked forward to. The key is NOT feeling like you're on a "diet" - just a lifestyle change for a healthier you! I know all about baby weight and comfy marriage. I'm married 5 years (with him actually 8 years) with a 21 month old daughter. I wanted to look better after the baby than ever before while cooking healthly meals for the family (my husband put on the sympathy weight as well as the nursing weight - I nursed her for 16 months). The only somewhat difficulty for me was this: Phase 2, as well as the other subsequent Phases, don't really resemble any kind of diet (which is good because you don't want to announced you're "dieting" - so when you lose all your weight, people can tell you how great you look) except when you go out with friends and they order the best bottle of cabernet! Torture, I tell ya. I would drink half a goblet and enjoy it! I didn't deprive myself because I knew I didn't enjoy wine on the regular and I also knew that tomorrow, I wouldn't be faced with the torture so I would get back on track. The diet is actually designed to work with these little offsets, too. It's a real life diet. I suggest signing up on cookinglight.com and looking for Phase 2 friendly recipes (that's kid friendly and easy for a mommy). That'll definitely help. Good luck to you.

I got my book on Monday and about Phase II it says you can have: veggies and fruit (including 1/2 an avacado, 3-4 oz. lean mean (chicken or turkey without skin, extra lean beef, or broiled lamb), seafood (no fried), eggs (you can now have 1 WHOLE egg per day), 1 oz. of cheese, 1.5 cups cold unsweetened cereal (like cornflakes or cheerios), 1 TBP of fat free mayo, 2 tsp butter, and you can now have 1 10oz. cup of coffee, 2 cans of diet soda, or even iced tea (you can also have 4 tsp of sweetener per day). Hope that helps! Oh and you are also supposed to up your exercise by 10-15%. Keep up the great work! :)
