In my last journal entry, I mentioned that it's Paczki time again, and it is. What I didn't mention is that, and it should be no surprize, the best paczkis are at the local bakeries. Many people get them on fat Tuesday, and when you have to wait for 2-3 hours, in the cold, and sometimes either rain or snow; I think it's an unwritten law, you have to get a minimum of 1-2 dozen, of these delectible treats. LOL For those unfamiliar with them, they are basically jelly/ fruit preserve, or custard filled doughnuts. Though it may be for other reasons, Fat Tuesday, is appropriately named, because if you consume that many doughnuts, in however long it takes to get through them, you're gonna pick up some weight. I was asked, yesterday, if I gave in to the temptation. Here's my answer. I stopped at the supermarket, yesterday, and there they were, featured in the display case, and all I'd have to do is get a bag and help myself to a tasty half dozen, or so. Maybe these were not as good as the ones you'd wait 3 hours for, but certainly worth getting, and to wash down, with your best cup of coffee. I stared at them, for a couple of minutes, but remembered my buddies, already encouraging me, to just say No! So, I turned, and kept walking, to the meat department, and got a couple of English Roasts, which were on sale, as a two for the price of one, advertised special. :-) I spent the same amount of money, that I would have on those paczkis, and will probably get about ten meals out of them, and won't gain a single pound from it. I might even lose some weight for my investment. LOL HooYaah! :-)
