Bah, Wife and daughter came home yesterday from a save the bears event with a large McD's french fry for me and of corse I had to eat them.. sigh.. french fries another weakness... On the upside, pain in my back has gotten much better so I should be able to start getting active again and loose this baggage around me...

Ask them to be more supportive of your efforts; that was sabotage!

Ahhh, McD's fries are the one thing that I really have trouble turning down. Luckily I have two dogs that love them just as much. Their big eyes and drooling makes me feel guilty and I end up giving the fries to them.

510 calories. No big deal.

Forget about the calories...your body can utilize them. Think instead of the oil they are fried in...reused until it turns a nasty color and starts to smell, smoking until it produces nasty residues called AGE's that will destroy your body and promote the growth of cancer. Not to mention the various toxic chemicals and pesticides that the potatos are sprayed in because they are not organic...lol This is supposed to be a little comical, but it is the truth and may help you to eat "half" the container of pesticides/poison next time you get some fries. :)

I just tell people I politely decline them and if they get offended or whatever, not my problem. You really have to have a strong backbone in order to not get sucked into other people's expectations about eating and food. I come from a traditional South Asian culture, where aunties are always telling me to stop losing weight and "what am I doing" as if it's magical, lol. I told an aunt my doctor told me to keep doing what I'm doing and it wasn't until then that she stopped.

@maidenhair_fern Last time some one offered me french fries I took one and explained that I love potatos but I hate french fries...which, after a bade experience, is entirely true. I really don't like fried foods anyway...but potatos taste delicious if you pour avocado oil on them (chopped) and bake them in the oven--delicious!

What I tell my family is that if I want something, I will buy my own. I tell them not to offer me any treats. If they bring something home they need to devour their own or throw them away. I want to to make my own choices and I want to make the purchases when I decide I want a treat.

My husband does similar stuff to me. I really believe he feels guilty for eating "garbage" while he sees me eating healthy and losing weight and getting my health back. I think if he gets me to eats the junk with him, he will feel less guilt. Good quality pizza has always been a weakness for me, despite my feeling awful after eating it. I grew up in NYC and I am Italian, so its a big-time comfort food for me. He eats it in front of me JUST before my normal meal times and, of course, I get an instant desire to partake of it. Then, I regret it and tell him I don't want him doing this to me, but next time its like he doesn't remember me telling him this. He's a good guy; he just has very poor eating habits, and now, bad health as well. Even an enlarged heart hasn't changed his mind about eating healthy, so I have just given up on the nagging about it. Its sad, but I can't control anyone except myself. I've decided to go for a walk from now on, every single time he eats lousy foods. At worst, I will be a lot more fit and won't give in to his temptations. At best, maybe he will see my example and finally have a change of heart! (-pun intended!)
