Day 19 (Phase 1 continued): I went out of town for business in Toronto, Canada, then stayed for the weekend in Niagara Falls. This would be a good test since I will be eating out every day. I did well, although did not do much exercise. I had bottled water, coffee in the morning, nuts and cheeses as snacks. I have not weighed myself so I am curious what my weight will be when I get home tonight.

Tip:
Take a fiber pill (Psylllim=Metamucil) 15 minutes before every meal. According to the SBD book (pg 64 in hard cover), "Fiber is the major factor that slows the absorption of sugar. That's the reason the highly processed oatmeal was worse diet-wise, that nte steel-cut variety - the latter had all the fiber still intact, and so before the stomach could get to the sugars in the oatmeal, it had to separate them from the fiber. ... The reason is simple: In their stomachs, the psyllium mixed in with what they ate and drank and slowed down the digestion. Slower digestion of carbs, less insulin. Less insulin, less dramatic drop in blood sugar. Less sugar rise and fall now, less hunger later.
