Clutha's Journal, 02 Feb 10

It's times like these when I realise just how screwed up my relationship with food is. I seem to subconciously use food as a reward and a punishment. At times I seem to have an insatiable apetite, constantly thinking I can have this today and 'be good' tomorrow. At times when I'm in chaos I eat as much as I can 'cause I know that soon I'll be on a diet and not able to eat as much as I want. Then, like now, when I'm doing well I get ideas that aren't healhty such as 'why don't I just not eat this meal then I'll loose even more' or 'I could do more exercise then I'd get results quicker'. I need to establish a much more balanced approach to my eating ... but how.

Recognize that we have to stop kidding ourselves, and given into the fact that this is a long and slow journey and be ok with that. We have to become mentally mature about this situation. We can't kid ourselves anymore that if we don't eat we will lose faster. The other end of that is we will also gain it back fast and double. Be true to yourself. Enjoy this path you are on. Take it as a life lesson and learn to eat healthy for the rest of your life. I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life, have gone to OA, have done so many different things to lose weight. I'm here for the long haul because I know every one pound I lose is one pound closer, even if it'll take me a week. Because when I look back at the time I wasted making bad decisions with food, I could have only lost that one pound and been at my ideal weight today. Have patience with yourself, be at peace and do not become anxious. I'm on this journey as well, but I have decided I will get there because every little chip will get me to the core. Just keep at it!!
