OKAY there needs to be a disclaimer on this weigh in.

my post Christmas weight was 176. When i started getting back in the swing of things last week it was 176. i dont know why i recorded 170...but i did. i cant change the last weigh in weight so i'm recording a weigh in NOW even though my weigh in is WEDNESDAY.

just clarifying. I'm a little upset that I didn't realize my weight was inaccurate on the weigh in scale..because now it looks like I gained 6.7 pounds in a week which is sooo not true. Sigh.

Onto the official entry of the day:

This weekend was not the best weekend (foodwise) in the world. My plan was to have a "low day" on Saturday to boost up my metabolism like everyone has been saying. So in the morning I had egg beaters and coffee. I drank water like it was going out of style. Water with protein in it, water with just flavoring, plain water, water with extra fiber..I probably drank my weight in water. I felt so good. For lunch, around 3pm, I had a protein bar and a small glass of skim milk. It surprisingly filled me up and I was good to go. Drank some more water, did housework. Didn't really eat dinner and decided at 11pm to go to the bar with my roommate from college. Had a blasssstttt but didn't make the best food choices. Cheese omelet, perogies? *Shudders* The good part, though, is that we made the food. We didn't get SPUDS(that suuuuper deliicious french fry place) and we didn't go out to brunch the next day. A small victory, I know, but a victory nonetheless. Right? :)

Yesterday I weighed myself "unofficially" and the scale was down! Even after all that drinking (aaand replenishing of water from being dehydrated!) it was still down. Not significantly, but I was happy. It gave me the boost I needed to not completely kill my sunday food intake and I did pretty well last night, even though we were snacking during the grammys!

I am ready to take on this week and make smart food decisions! The challenge: making smart decisions with the roommmate in kutztown on Wednesday! Oh how I love and miss my college town...

Three Things I am Grateful for Today:

1. Hearing a song on the radio that EXACTLY fits your mood at the moment.
2. Cute guys at bars and friends that make you go out at 11pm so you're not sitting at home feeling sorry for yourself :)
3. Email. (I know I sort of said this last time...but I don't know what I would do without it!)

Hey, I don't know what people are saying but eating too few calories will definitely NOT boost your metabolism. It will do the opposite. There's been a lot of talk on fasting here lately. Fasting can be good for your health, but really only if you do it for a longer period of time. Fasting is not a good weight loss strategy. I think when people say low or high day they are talking about having a low day to clear our the body and maybe get rid of some cravings. I think doing that every once in awhile is fine and probably good, but I just wanted to clear up the "metabolism" part of that. Sorry about that weigh in thing--that happened to me and it bugged me for awhile but--whatever! You know the truth. There is some way to change historical weigh-ins but it didn't work exactly as I wanted it to and I just kept messing it up further. Great work on the weekend eating! It really is hard to control the weekends. I think it's a big part of the battle.

I agree, it is SO difficult to do well on the weekends! Maybe I worded it wrong about the metabolism...I've heard that having a "low day" from time to time will clear out the body and help metabolism in the long run. Maybe I just misunderstood! It's been something I've been wanting to try, but since I run around all day everyday I don't have the time to NOT eat regularly. I know that sounds crazy but I get dizzy and stuff when I don't eat so it wouldn't be a good combination lol.

I'm sorry for freaking out like that. Lol. I just get nervous when people are talking about that stuff. I know that alternating high and low days works for people, but you can do some damage to your metabolism by eating too few calories for an extended period of time. You're doing great.

Thanks for the support! :) We'll see what the scale says on Wednesday but I doubt the whole "low day" thing is going to work for me.

We need to make a plan about where we're going to eat dinner on Wednesday...I don't weigh in until Saturday so I have to be careful...whatcha thinking?

Yeah, I agree with everything beets_yum said... I don't really think fasting every once in a while to lose weight is helpful. Everything I've learned that comes from a trustworthy source says it's not a good idea. But you are doing great, definitely. A positive attitude is everything! Oh, and I just wanted to let you know that I answered your Shirataki Noodles question. I didn't see it until today...
