jcbag97's Journal, 28 Nov 11

Here is to week one of the medication. I didn't feel the jiters, but does curve appetite. Hoping it will jump start the weight loss. I had a good week, the most I have lost in months. Also, I am continuing my Bootcamp (workout program) through the first of the year. After that, I will start my own in home program. I am gradually adding in "in home" with the bootcamp 4 days a week, so to get in the habit.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and didn't stuff themselves. I ate in moderation but did enjoy all the annual favorites, including the wonderful desserts.

Dr. put me on phenetermine for one month to see if could jump start my metabolism and weight loss. I have been going to him since the Spring struggling with weight issues. We tried the shakes and bars for 3 months, nothing. Then after 2 months of the bootcamp, eating right, etc still no loss. The straw that broke the camels back was a week ago when sick, didn't eat hardly anything other than liquids a a few crackers and lost nothing still. I took him my meal plans, etc. I just walked in and said I am frustrated and to the point of giving up. I have done bootcamp 4 days a week, paying $90 to this trainer, getting up at 4:30 every morning, etc. He is not a doctor that gives weightloss meds normally, but he thought this was the next step for me. I filled and didn't take til last Monday becuase I kept debating. But I finally gave in after talking to a few that had taken it. I plan to take for just a month and then see what happens.

Thanks JC. I was curious. I know you have been quite frustrated with the stall. Years ago, phentermine wasn't considered a safe med. Something about side effects for the heart? Is it considered safe now? I'm guessing you looked into it ... but thought I would mention it.

I did look into it and while they indicate they have changed so doesn't contain the same ingredient as PhenPhen did years ago, I still worry. But being obese I am risking diabetes and other conditions too. I thought I would do a month and see if helps. My doctor doesn't prescribe frequently so I felt he thougth this was my best alternative. He mentioned lapband too, but I just don't feel I need that but maybe I am fooling myself. I have lost before successfully, I just can't seem to maintain. I have friends doing the HCG diet with success also. They lost 25 pounds in 40 days. They have 25 more to go. I had thought about that too but wasn't sure I could maintain the restrictive eating. May have to see if this doesn't jump start something. I feel like I am not eating anything as it is, drining Herbalife meal replacement shakes for 2 meals, and one low calorie meal normally for lunch. With HCG diet you limit all sugars and carbs. There are also limits to the products such as shampoo you use. I just am afraid if I went that restrictive, would I just pack on once went to a 1200 calorie diet, which is what I am targeting.

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm not a fan of the HCG thingy ... 500 calories a day??? I'm experimenting with zig-zagging calories ... so far this week has been good. Something has got to give JC .. just hang in there!!
