Well, I'm home from work now. I haven't slept since Saturday night. I ended up going into the ER for some scary symptoms that went from bad to worse.
Long story short, I have a some type of ulcer in my upper gi tract that is bleeding. Going to have to modify my eating habits for a while. No more intermittent fasting. No more caffeine or carbonated drinks. May need to modify the macros.
Going to try just the medications for now and see if that makes it any better. If not, I'll make a plunge and change the diet some. Would hate to stop losing because of it.

That sucks, D1. I'm sorry you are going through this. I am on a medication called protonix for stomach ulcers, they are not active but I remember the pain and symptoms. You may not have to change TOO much. Try to stay away from acidic foods and coffee and chocolate. At the beginning a lot of roughage could be irritating too. Good luck, feel better!

In a situation like that "weight" is secondary - you just need to concern yourself with eating what every will help restore your ulcer. Take care of yourself! When I get a chance this evening, I'll see if I can find anything interesting about diet and ulcers and pass it along. Praying for you!

Damn. Well I wouldn't stop IF because of it. IF could actually be beneficial for letting the stomach heal. Just lay off all caffeine. Stick to water. Just do what you need to do my friend.

That's awful. The caffeinated stuff and soda you should completely eliminate for sure and adjust your diet per your physician's advice. I had stomach issues myself and as soon as I stopped drinking soda and caffeine the problem was gone, but you have a bleed which is more serious than what I had. Take care of yourself.

Sorry you aren't feeling well! Did you know that the leading cause of ulcers is actually bacteria? I think a lot of doctors still don't even test for it. Did yours? http://www.ulcer-cure.com/index.php/all-about-stomach-ulcers/ulcer-symptoms/main-cause-of-an-ulcer

@C2B....H pylori. You're right. If you get an Upper Endoscopy then they usually test for this bacteria.

I just read about the bacterial/ulcer link a couple of days ago, C2B! Take care of yourself, D1s. You made giant progress!

They did a urine test to see if there was an infection. That came up negative. The most likely cause of the ulcer is a combination of medications and eating habits. It just took a turn for the worse. I am told that they want to do an endoscopy, but I cannot do that for some time as my current work schedule makes that a little difficult. I won't be able to set one up until the week after the next. On the plus side, the medications do seem to be helping reduce the pain. I haven't had a "movement" yet, so I do not know how things are doing down there. Normally it is a once a day thing, but that all changed when the pain started. I can tell that it is my stomach because I can feel cold liquid when it goes past the area that hurts. The pain is temporarily reduced when I do this. I am going to avoid some foods known to make more stomach acid as well as caffeinated and carbonated drinks. I can already feel the withdrawals from the lack of caffeine! D:! Oh well. I'll survive.

Sounds like you're on it :-) I hope you'll get to the bottom of this and get back on your way soon!
