ShyGuy's Journal, 12 Oct 11

Once again, I went to a family get together, and as always there was food; sloppy joes, chips, and a bunch of cookies, donuts, and such. I did my best to limit the damage, by putting the sloppy joes over a bed of romaine lettuce, instead of a bun, and totally avoiding the chips and desserts. When it was all said and done, I'm guessing, my day ended up coming in at 47 net carbs. Not bad, considering, I could have said the heck with it, and dove right in donuts and all. Next week, we'll be having a pot luck, so I jumped right in, to make sure there will be something I can eat without a doubt. I'm bringing the bratwurst, and told my brother he'll have to get the buns, if they want to eat them. I'll make sure I have some pork rinds on hand also, so while they are eating chips, I won't miss out. My brother doesn't buy diet soda either, so I'll bring my own. :) That will have to be my strategy for staying low carb at family gatherings, from now on. :)

You are doing good. It must be hard to resist all the stuff you loved in the past, but you are resisting. That shows strength. You are a martial arts black belt, and that takes a lot of discipline and you are showing that quality also in your eating choices. Keep encouraging us :)

Thanks Gigi. I'm just, slightly, disappointed in myself for not considering bringing my own stuff before. :( I guess I just assumed that there would always be something, low enough in carbs, that icould eat; but I now realize, that's not always the case, and the rest of the world could care less. You are right, I'm not doing bad, and it did take a lot of discipline to get my black belt; which is reflected in my resolve here. :)

Great job well done, it is really hard to do, but you stick to your guns, nothing feels as good as how you do today after not just eating with abandon........you would probably feel pretty bad today in more ways than one, so not worth it. You are nearly under 300 how wonderful you have done it in such a short time......you have to be so proud of yourself. The rest of the world really doesn't care, but you really care about yourself.....go black belt go black belt........we are your cheerleaders and you are ours......we couldn't do it without you. AND WE REALLY DO CARE.....
