I’ve been pondering what to share here and I realized that what helps me is knowing there are other folks going through similar struggles and succeeding.

So… I am a 55 yr old stress eater and stress shopper. I’ve been a single mom with a high stress job for most of my adult life but my weight has been out of control since 2020.

I have chronic asthma so getting Covid could have been a death sentence. I take care of my elderly parents so not bringing Covid home to them was critical as well. Crazy 4 years.

Late in 2023 we all got Covid for the first and only time (so far). Even with the benefits of having all the vacines, I was hospitalized for 5 days. The after effects have been a wake up call.

I’ve made changes financially taking control of that area. Currently saving 57% of my after tax income. I am now applying the same effort to my physical health. Wish me luck!

Glad you shared! It's nice to get comments, advice, or support from all of the wonderful people in this site. I have made sot good friends and even met a few. Hope you are able to recover from Covid after effects. I had covid for 1st time in 2023. I have asthma so I was sick for about 2 months. Then the longhaulers stuff kicked in. It sucks! It took about a year to finally feel "normal"💜

Remember, the purpose of the Covid vaccines is not to keep you from getting it, it is to prevent you from DYING from it. So far we cannot prevent it, we may or may not get there, but if we can prevent deaths that is a good thing. Hi risk people can still wear N95 masks or if you can’t tolerate those, the KN95 when you go to crowded places. Wash your hands and maintain social distance. Covid has not gone away— even Biden just now tested positive. I think this is maybe the 3rd time he has had it.

So far I avoided Covid. I was retired and able to remain at home. Being higher risk, I took the vaccines and wore my mask whenever I went out. I still smoked then, covid helped motivate me to quit. Silly to have to go out in public just because I needed to buy cigarettes. I finally quit smoking two years ago and instead substituted eating. I was already overweight but I finally hit a wall of reality. The weight was going to kill me. At 65 I am still to young to let something I can change get the best of me. I have several health issues, including now diabetic. Being morbidly obese is miserable. I am now ready to tackle this , I have over 80lbs to lose, it isn't going to be quick. I do think Fatcentral will help motivate me. Guess what I am saying is you are not alone. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the support. I’m well aware because of the damage asthma and Covid have done to my lungs that getting Covid again may be the end of my story. I’m not ready for this amazing ride to end. I wear masks everywhere, don’t eat in restaurants anymore, travel only by RV, and happily the folks at work are supportive. I have a great boss and management team. I’m going to get my weight under control with the support of this app and this community. Thanks again! If you need a shoulder to lean on, I’m here for you.

I don't know if this will help you however, I've noticed a pattern in high carbohydrate consumers. I have many friends that are high carbohydrate consumers and when they caught covid they went down like a ton of bricks with a very slow recovery rate with residuals. then I have friends that are high maintenance muscle builders with their carbohydrate intake very low and they have contracted covid which resulted in minimal symptoms and recovery rate quick as of 1 to 2 days with no residuals and that includes myself. this, however, is my own personal friendship circle that I have come to realize has a pattern.

clarification on the carbohydrates My muscle builder Friends majority of carbohydrate consumption is complex carbohydrate which is measured out. Where my high consumption friends are a simple carbohydrates consumer which is usually comfort food or packaged. I find this quite interesting myself
