Bionici's Journal, 30 May 24

It is a gorgeous day in middle Tennessee. Worked out this A.M. on the bike and also so stretches and planks. Not sure why, but the legs (knees) were sore and did not like the ride on the recumbent. Put in 80 minutes & 20.3 miles on the bike, to keep up the mileage. The average for today was 15.2 MPH. The overall average is generally about 16.3 - 16.5 MPH. One MPH does not seem like much, but the difference in the pace is like a moderate walk VS a good moderate cross country run for me.

Otherwise, I am heading out to cut some wood on our property. This past winter and during the recent torrential rain storms this past week, we had 2 large trees come down. So, there is a large amount of firewood and smaller limbs that need to be cleaned out. A little a day, and it will be done by the time the next tree comes down. We are also still working on the large trunk of a tree from last year also. It is a never ending process when a 5 acre property has 2 acres of woods.

Thankfully, our health is good and allows for physical activity like working in the woods at our age. My legs are not 22 years old anymore, so it takes a little longer to accomplish what needs to be done. But we do enjoy working in the woods.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week. Keep running, cycling, working out, and living your life serving God and others. God is good !!

We have 6.5 acres of woods. Way too much for 2 seniors like us to handle.

ObeseToBeast123, unfortunately we do not have a fireplace. We do have 2 - 3 smaller burns a year. It's just that this last 1.5 years, we have had a bunch of limbs and trees come down. I had a friend who had a large Franklin stove, and did what you do. It does save. I only put in an hour on the bike today contemplating that I would be in the woods today (Friday),...which I was. Was out there working on the tree today and was cutting for 2 1/2 hours this afternoon. I'll sleep tonight.

Concamelavida, thank you. My wife and I do have a great life. I like being outdoors except in winter. We moved from the south to the north for 18 years, and it was just WAY to cold for us, but especially me.

MorticiaAddams, I certainly know the feeling. For a guy that is 77, though in good condition except for my knees, 2 acres under woods can be a lot especially when several trees come down. I don't believe I could handle 6.5 acres under woods. 3 acres that are (what I call pasture) open and 2 under woods is a lot. Even the 3 acres is demanding from cutting every week to tending to the gardens, etc... Be well my friend.
