AuntieJan's Journal, 31 Aug 11

I woke up tired today, didn't go to the gym and I didn't walk the causeway. I did some housework and went to my appointment at the pysch center, spent a bunch of time this afternoon reading and doing some research, made supper and that's pretty much my day.

I have been experiencing some really weird dreams for the last couple of weeks and I think they have been disturbing my sleep. It concerns me a little because it might be a sign that my meds aren't working as well as they have been. Not sure though, could be hormones or just a lot of stuff on my mind, which there is. I have a doctor's appointment next month so if the dreams persist I will bring it up.

I am on my third day of almost zero sugar and drastically reduced carbs, it's a bit different but it's only for a couple weeks so I can handle it. The only time I am having trouble with is breakfast, I like my granola bar and yogurt with my coffee but those are off limits at the moment. I refuse to give up my coffee though. LOL It's a good thing I like eggs because that's what I have been eating for breakfast. I bought some additional items at the grocery that are "legal" so it will add a little variety to the mix.

On other noteworthy events, I attended a running clinic on "Good Form Running" last night at the place I bought my shoes, it was free and taught by a rep from New Balance. There was a demo and talk for the first 15 mins, then we all went outside (thankfully the bad thunderstorm we had moved away), to practice the points he gave and then he recorded a video of each one of us running in front of him. Of course, and as I expected, I was the only fat chick there, but I did fine and the rep said my form was really good and gave me a couple pointers about flexing my knees a little more. It was an hour well spent and I'll probably go to the one next month too.

So it's off to bed with me for hopefully some restful sleep, I am doing the causeway tomorrow if it isn't raining, I'm really liking the jogging on the road thing a lot!

Hello, Auntie! I presume that all went well at the psych center. It's good to see you got something from the running clinic - that sounds very helpful. I'm still amazed at how far you've come in all areas - the physical, mental and spiritual! You do need to get a better quality of sleep in order to function at full capacity. I hope you'll get some answers on those disturbing dreams. Take care, Auntie! HUGS!

What a great opportunity to have someone watch you running and give advice. Some days you just need to rest... Hope you start sleeping better, I'm like a dish rag if I don't get my "winks" in, so I hope you get the dream issue sorted. Could be you have too much on your mind... If I am stressed by something, it always affects my sleep pattern. When I was working and had a lot on, I would wake in the middle of he night, and not be able to get back to sleep. I would often come downstairs, make myself a hot drink and sit by the pond. Luckily I don't have that stress anymore. Hope yo have more energy today xx

I agree with Sk1nny - you have to listen to your body and that includes when it just wants to chill. Dreams are weird I will go through a period of when it doesn't feel like I sleep at all as my dreams just feel like I'm lying there thinking all night - but it comes and goes so is probably related to stress around me at the time. I hope you have a restful day Madame B :)

Hi Pam, so happy you came to visit! Yes all was great at my session yesterday, I wanted to include it in my journal yesterday but I just was too tired to keep writing. Perhaps today. I did sleep a little better last night but still there were dreams and I woke up a few times. Anyway thanks a lot my Pammie!

Hi Skinny yes you are right, sometimes we need to rest and I have to listen to my body, it is something hard for me to do, but I need to keep trying. My sleep used to be really horrible, bad dreams AND many thoughts all competing for attention at the same time. Sitting by the pond in the middle of the night actually sounds cool, but I know what you mean about just lying there thinking - it sucks! Well have a great day Skinny and thank you!

Good morning Tracy glad to see you! I am working on the listening to the body thing, and I do think stress has a huge role to play in being able to rest and wake up refreshed. Wishing all of us a good night's sleep tonight!

Auntie - Yes, a day of rest - give your poor body a break! As far as the carb withdrawal - it won't last much longer. Are you making sure you are eating plenty of protein to ward them off?

It is good to give the body a break now & then...re-charge the batteries, especially if good sleep is a problem. Pay attention to those dreams, if the continue get it checked out ASAP!!

Hi Buffy! I did pretty good yesterday, really didn't do a whole lot and I did sleep better last night even though the dreams were there, not quite as wierd I guess. I am indeed eating a lot of protein, it does help but I still get hungry so I think I will carry a baggie of nuts with me so I can have a few of those when needed, need to prepare for the day better, this kind of eating requires a little planning ahead. Have a wonderful day Buffy!
