This morning was soooo hard not to get out the scales. I feel so bloated. I reminded myself this is the week I bloat so don't let it get you down. I was reading the August 3 issue of For Women First magazine last night and they talked about how to "Flush out water weight" They said "your body uses stored water to help keep cool, but in hot, humid weather, up to 50 percent of women retain too much water, making them feel bloated". EXACTLY me this summer :)

They suggest drinking 2 cups of dandelion tea or to take 500 mg of supplement form daily. "According to USDA research, dandelion leaves are so rich in fluid-flushing minerals that women can shed at least 30 percent of their summer water weight in one week". I am going to look into it. Last summer this happened too, luckily this summer I haven't just thrown my hand in the air and given up because of it.

Can't wait til Friday to finally weigh in. I am going to drink water, water, water and watch foods to hopefully beat this weeks bloat.

Happy Tuesday.

Great tip about the dandelion tea/supplements. I'll have to look into that! Our mantra for today "beat the bloat!" :)

Good thing you couldn't weigh in because you probably wouldn't have liked the number on the scale if you're bloated! That's interesting about the summer retention. I don't think I retain much. I drink water all day and therefore am in the bathroom all day as well. But maybe, just maybe, there might be a little retention. Who knows?

I went to GNC and picked up some Dandelion Root tablets. You take one a day. We'll see if makes a difference. I saw an video that Jillian Michaels had done that promoted it versus the over the counter water pills. I am going to do that along with my cucumber/lemon water "sassy water" and see how I do this week. TOM is next week so I always bloat the week before big time. Jillian Michaels also has a recipe to help beat the bloat, take 60 ounces of distilled or pure water; add a tablespoon of sugar free cranberry juice; Add 1 dandelion root tea bag and; add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. I was unable to find the root tea bags at GNC but someone suggested trying Kroger. http://www.nowloss.com/jillian...

Green tea works well too...I've been drinking the Arizona diet iced and have flushed a lot. One warning - tons of caffeine so be careful if you're sensitive to it.

Something I read while googling Dandelion Root it talked about if you mix the tea with something it acts as a great substitute for those trying to kick coffee. Gives you the energy of coffee but without the caffeine. I am not a coffee drinker, so just kind of skimmed it. Will have to find it again.

I was going to try the jillian michaels fat flush also. I'm having a terrible time finding dandelion root tea. If you have any luck let me know!
