jcbag97's Journal, 30 Jul 09

Well we made it home around lunchtime yesterday. 3 1/2 days away from the place was all my husband could take. We had planned to try to take the boys to Abilene Zoo Wednesday morning before heading home, but the rains started. We just headed home about 6:30 am instead. I drove the entire trip as we were in work vehicle. That part wasn't too much fun, especially Wednesday as entire family slept 1/2 the way back, including husband :)

Boys had a great time watching the 4-H'ers compete. My oldest has another year before he's eligible for the 4-H program, but we wanted him to get a chance to see kids around his own age and how they handle their horses. Nathan rides almost daily working cattle with my husband, but he lacks the confidence to think he can ride off by himself, always wants Daddy to go with him. He loved the Team Penning competition the most. Three kids would be given a number and they had to go sort out 3 calves with that number from a group of about 30 head, drive them down to the otherside of the arena and pen then in a small pen. It was an all day event. He also liked the calf roping and team roping events, but the penning was his favorite.

Haven't gotten on the scales, kind of scared to. I did really well Sunday and Monday til dinner. Monday evening the boys wanted Pizza, I had one piece and a piece of Crazy bread, but we didn't eat til 9:30. Woke up with horrible heartburn. Ate breakfast bar for breakfast that morning, then chicken sandwich from Whataburger for lunch, did eat fries too. That evening, another bad meal choice. Chicken Express (not sure who all has those, they are popular in Texas). Fried everything. Had 2 fried chicken strips and corn nuggets.

I put myself back on track yesterday when I got home. TOM is also going on, so that doesn't help my feeling. Didn't get in enough water while in Abilene either, drank too many diet cokes. Something about being away from home, water just doesn't appeal to me and I feel like I need caffeine, when I really wasn't dragging.

We'll see how tomorrow's weigh in goes. I am afraid I have crept back into the 160s slightly, but maybe not, hopefully not.

Back to the workout this afternoon as well. S.I.L. is getting back on track and we are doing our Shred workouts again and preparing for the 5K in October. She has put up a calendar in her kitchen to mark off the days. We don't have long to be ready.

Birthday is around the corner for me too. Will be 35, September 13th. I had original hopes to be at my goal by my birthday, but not going to make it. Started out strong but now I am averaging more like 1.2 pounds/week loss. I would have had to lose 2#/week to hit 125 by my birthday. However, new goal is to be under 150 by birthday. I have about 6 weeks, so 2 pounds/week and I will be there and then some :)

Here's to good food choices, regular workouts and great FS Buddies.

Enjoy the rest of this week and have a fun weekend. WE ARE GETTING RAIN FINALLY!!!!!!!

1.2 pounds/week loss is healthy and better than what I've been averaging! Don't be discouraged. You're doing well despite the small setbacks. Welcome back from your trip. I hate when people fall asleep when I'm driving!! I need company to keep ME awake!! : )

Glad you all enjoyed the trip and got home safely! Even if the scale has crept up, I'm sure it will be back down once the travel eating is out of your system. Your new birthday goal is totally do-able! Have fun training for your run!
