Gabbie1018's Journal, 14 Mar 15

Yesterday I ran for the first time in a long time (2 years). Cold (40 degrees) and windy. Ran 1 mile then walked for 8 minutes. Ran another .25 miles then walked for 6 minutes then ran .13 miles. My legs felt like lead in the cold. It was the worst I have ever run but it still felt good to get out there. I would like to blame the cold weather entirely on the poor job I did but I can only blame myself. I have to say I am a "fair" weather runner...no pun intended but I really only run in fair/good weather so for me to go out in the cold weather has to count for something. I could never run more than 3 miles at one time and that was my absolute limit. So I have two weight related goals and one NSV goal.

1) lose 8.2 lbs by end of May 2015 (weigh in at 160lbs)

2) lose 10 more lbs beyond that by end of September 2015 (weigh in at 150 lbs)

3) be able to run 3 miles (without stopping) "comfortably" by end of August 2015.

It's official. I have put it down in writing so it WILL happen! I wish it was that easy. LOL.

I can do this!

Of course you can do it! I relate to the running thing, I am a horrible runner and I hate it! That being said, I want to conquer it! I have never been able to run more than 3 or 4 miles at a time, and that was at a pretty slow pace (even when I was in shape). It's been a couple of years since I ran so right now I probably couldn't do a 1/2 mile. But I am determined to add a half marathon to my list of goals...I might be crazy ;) Good luck!

Good for you! Ease back into the running slowly though. Shin splints can happen if you raise the mileage too fast. But awesome job!
