ridemariel, rhubarb pie 🥧 is my favorite pie. We moved to Southern Mississippi when I was 16 and faced the same issue. We lived next to a blueberry farm though and got to eat as many 🫐 as we wanted to. I got so sick of blueberries that I didn't eat them for decades and now I'm mostly indifferent to them but rhubarb I love even more. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" they say, and so apparently the palate as well.

I’m rejoicing in the NC berries and peaches, but with you, @ridemariel, on missing rhubarb. Some farmers at my local market try, but even the green variety that is supposed to be more heat tolerant is really an annual rather than the awesome northern perennial.

while not ideal, I've bought frozen rhubarb in places I've lived. and at regular stores like Kroger. frozen rhubarb is fine for pie. it's also my favorite pie as well.

In my family we will have so much pie at family gatherings that you will have a whole meal then let it settle and come back for a while other meal of just pie. Pecan pie, grape pie, peach pie, blueberry pie, lemon meringue pie, mixed berry pie, shoo-fly pie, and rhubarb pie (strawberry-rhubarb pie only if there isn't enough rhubarb to make a whole pie) would be a fairly typical spread honestly. And through in a cheese cake and a peach crisp for good measure.
My top 3 favorites would have to be rhubarb, peach crisp, and chocolate chip pecan pie. It would be too difficult to put those in order of preference.

I’m a jam maker. I made strawberry rhubarb a couple weeks ago— it came out very tasty. It had been so many years since I had eaten rhubarb— since I was a kid, that I had almost no expectation as to how it should taste. I think I will try the pie.
