slsmitty's Journal, 08 Jan 15

Well December was a rough month. I managed to maintain my weight close to 143 for the Thanksgiving break but soon after I just couldn't do it. Then my father-in-law suddenly passed away and it was a non-stop round of eating, drinking and eating for two weeks followed by the Christmas break which consisted of more eating, drinking and eating as we all gathered together to support one another as well as celebrate the holidays.

Now I'm up to 150, feeling horribly blah and heavy. I recently stumbled across the 5:2 diet so I'm giving that a try. Today is my first fasting day. So far I've had 184 calories for breakfast. I already know what I'm eating for lunch and dinner so my calories are 412 for the day. I'll have a snack of some small size at some point to get to the 500 calories for the day. I plan on drinking water all day too. I'll add lemon to make it tasty.

I'm still researching to see what is the recommended daily calorie allowance for the non-fasting days.

I don't expect that this will be a quick fix. If it was I know that the weight would just come right back on anyway so I'd rather lose it slowly. I get so frustrated though that it took me a year to take off 10 pounds and only one month to put it back on! It really makes me want to cry.

I just joined the 5:2 fastdiet website. They say that I should have 1558 calories a day to maintain weight. So I'm assuming I should have less then that to lose weight? And if the 500 calories a day is based on a 2000 a day diet then should I make my fasting day calories 390 calories a day for it to work?
