You will LOVE retirement. I worked at the same company for 28 years, it was weird ar first but 5 years later I am loving life!

I worked for the same company for nearly 35 years. Worked 31 years then got laid off when my department was eliminated. Got severance pay and insurance covered for one year. After the year was up, another department was opened and they hired me back. Kept the same seniority as far as vacation and other benefits and then I retired about 3 years later. Love being retired but I gained 30 pounds almost immediately because I didn't have the structured meal planning any more.

Everyone I know who has retired is pretty happy. I hope to emulate their transformation to civilian life one day myself. And I just mean working.

I am living to retire. I remind myself that I need to be healthy enough to enjoy my retirement. It is one of my goals to not work and work and then be to physically impaired to enjoy my remaining years. Congrats to you!

You will do well in retirement. I decided to "retire" when I turned 60 on Jan 1. 2020. Right before Covid became a part of our lives. So many of the plans I had are just now becoming a reality. Congratulations on entering this new chapter in life !
