Monday morning weigh in: 171.6. (gain of 3 lbs)
Alright, so now comes the part where the lbs are just supposed to come falling off sunday-friday :)
My feelings about the "Spike day"... The concept is great, I loved pigging out, and I don't feel the guilt. However, I found myself still spike eating on Sunday. I'm not sure if I can handle this diet, I'm not sure if I have enough restraint to go from eating whatever I want to dropping it cold turkey the next day. Today, I just feel kind of like "ho-hum" about my slip and feel super charged for a week of the hardest cardio/weight lifting in my life. I am going to finish out the month like I said I would and see if things level out. It may just come to me having to do 2 spike days.. The first one being all out and the 2nd being kind of like a gradual slide into monday. Wrist is really bothering me this morning, hope it feels better for the workout this evening.

Sorry for blowing up your journal this morning - but I completley agree with spike days and trying to get back on track. I could NOT stop eating yesterday - even after I was full! Also, on Friday, I had a little mini splurge at Ruth's Chris and on Saturday, I was having tons of cravings when I got home from work, causing me to eat a little pastry instead of my usual apple and yogurt. I've never had such intense cravings for sugar as I have had since eating healthier - I used to be a salty cravings person. Today, I feel pretty sick, so that should shock me back into eating right, but it was a harsh weekend.

More than welcome to chime in at ANY TIME!! I have to agree with the sugar craving.. I think Easter had alot to do with it as well, I usually don't have that much temptation thrown right into my face. The shining light behind this weekend is that I am SUPER MOTIVATED to rock the gym out this entire week. I say for every extra 1,000 calories we ate this weekend we shed 250 extra on top of our regular workout!! You up for it allie!?

Ah PANTHER! I'd die!!!!! I normally have a calorie burn of 550 - 700 on the eliptical - I'd never get off if I took it to almost 1000!!! But, I will up my strength traning and do some cardio for 2 - 3 minutes inbetween sets (which is a lot for me on Mondays). I wish I had your motivation today, but I am soooooo tired, I can barely keep my eyes open :(. Your gym motivation today is def going to motivate me to work hard this afternoon!!

That sounds even better allie :) Today is one of those days that I am so happy to have my Animal Rage supplement, it's my saving grace on the first and last workout days of my cycle :)

I think you could safely modify your week to have your 3 normal days following your Spike day. You would have 3 low days in a row, but that would make Spike day even sweeter. I never had a problem with cravings the days after Spike day...simply because I knew another was coming. In fact, it was incredibly easy for me to turn the day after into a low calorie day since I was always so full after.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a diet you need to fine tune to yourself. Like I said this last weekend being easter was incredibly difficult to moderate (family get togethers-candy everywhere). This upcoming weekend won't be much easier.. However, the spike day will be perfectly timed for the day of the wedding i'm supposed to attend. And sunday won't have near the temptation it did as easter sunday. I honestly don't have an "off" switch after I decide to start eating chocolate..or drinking alcohol for that matter. I found myself sneaking away on sunday to grab another marshmellow bunny or reeses egg, and making excuses for where I went. Lol, sounds like an addict to me.

I say give it another cycle or two before making a decision (which I know you're probably going to do anyway). When I first started carb cycling I had some issues with cravings initially, but after a week or two that pretty much stopped. Most of my carb-ups days were the same every week after that: whether I did a clean carb-up (hi carb, lo fat) or a spike day (eat the house & everything in it), by the end of the day I was SO over eating carbs. Couldn't wait to get back to my regular diet the next day. MAYBE a twinge of a carb craving the next day or 2 after. Maybe. Your beginning-of-the-week workouts are gonna ROCK now that you're fully loaded with glycogen. :)

panther... I'm going to follow your progress. I may as well have called yesterday a spike day... and I feel soooo yuck. I can't wait to eat a low cal today. HOWEVER... its early... we'll see. :)

I certainly over-indulged, but I really don't have the "yuck" feeling that you and Allie are suffering from. That must be a woman thing :D

I had the same exact problem trying to spike Saturday and not being able to get back on track Sunday. Getting on track Monday is easy for me because my work routine. I might consider switching my spike day to Sunday to see if I can continue my routine through Saturday.

I'm going to experiment and see how my weight is before my next spike day. If there was still either no weight gain, or a weight loss. I may do a double spike day. I think my workout routine throughout the week, and 3 hours of full court basketball on sunday might be able to compensate. We will see what saturday brings :)

what are you supposed to keep your levels at the rest of the week?

I made my official weigh-in the day before my Spike Day, but I also typically see large increases in my weight after the Spike Day

I have 3 days of 1600 calories and 3 of 2100 radiochick.
