You people are all lying .... my favorite is still the Oh Henry bites and I loved Doritos cheesy nacho chips with sour cream and salsa. That is the real truth - now a formed "Foodie" with a lifetime meal plan - Nuts - Apple - Glass of water. That is the real truth.

Oh Jergens Jergens Jergens....no, I'm not lying. Those really are my go-to snacks and how I log them.

Somebody once described the difference between a "snack" and a "treat". A snack supports you nutritionally. A well-placed snack can help keep your blood sugars level, help keep you from binging, etc. Things like nuts, fruit (for me best paired with some sort of protein like peanut butter, yogurt), vegetables sticks, etc both give you nutrients and help get you through the "hungries". A treat on the other hand is for pure pleasure. It doesn't need to support you nutritionally. We all need a "treat" now and again, imho. But best used judiciously and sparingly.

When you DO snack. do not watch tv or be on your computer. Concentrate on your snack like if it is a meal.

My afternoon meal is often more of a snack. I eat breakfast late, sometimes around noon. Then dinner is eaten between 7 & 8. I eat Smart 50 popcorn, hummus, crackers, cheese, apples, pickles, baby carrots. I have made it a habit to eat dessert after dinner every night. What I eat depends on how many calories are left in my budget. That dessert gives my brain the message I'm done eating for the day. No more snacks. Dessert could be sugar free jello, a cookie, a small slice of pie....all measured/ weighed & logged.
