Total carbohydrate grams - grams of fiber - grams of sugar alcohols, if any = grams of net carbohydrates, aka Net Carbs.

Those dashes above should be interpreted as MINUS signs...just so you know. You are subtracting usable FIBER from the total CARBS. For example, a flax muffin might have 12 grams of carbs, but because there is so much fiber in it, you would count the "usable" carbs, or net carbs as 3. 12 total carbs minus 9 (fiber) equals 3 (net carbs). May I recommend you also get the book Dr. Atkins NEW Diet Revolution? It would help SO much. Immerse yourself in helpful resouces such as that, and the Atkins.com website - where you can take an onlilne instructional tutorial. CONGRATULATIONS on your terrific progress thus far! You are doing awesome! You are just squeakers away from the two hundreds. What a feeling!
